Stayed here for 4 nights, I did like that even though the rooms are a bit small, you still have enough floor space around the bed for manoeuvring around the room. The bathroom I found to be quite a decent size for a cheaper tokyo hotel. Staff were excellent and friendly and even when we had to leave a day... More

Staff was cordial and tried to speak english, we had a superior room that was small, but larger than the standards of Japan. It had all comforts and free wifi in the rooms. At first it was hard to find it, but once we got used to Tokyo's street it got easier. We loved the position, near Shinjuku station but... More

I spent two nights at Nishi Shinjuku Hotel. Location is great and very conveniently located at 200m from subways stations. Interiors are clean and silent. General decor is however basic and brutally functional. Room was rather small as I found difficulties walking around my bed! Bathroom is fine, but be ready to contact reception for hairdryer or a comb. TV... More

My family and myself just spent 4 days in Tokyo Shinjuku Ward and had two rooms @ MyStays. The location could not be better with fantastic access to Shinjuku Station and the general Shinjuku area. My overall impression of MyStays is, the cost of the rooms seems to be reasonable given the average medium in the Shinjuku area, rooms are... More

Stayed as a couple for three nights at start of our trip round Japan. Great location especially for eating out in the evenings. Rooms small (as is the case in Japan). Bathroom big, bit dated and worn. Bed comfy. Air conditioning good. We pre ordered breakfast and only had it once as it was inedible and very disappointing. There were... More

The standard double room was rather small, however i understand that that is the case in most hotels in Tokyo, and it is reasonable for the price they charge. Though the hotel is quite near the shinjuku west exit, it was not the at most convenient location, being 1km away from the shinjuku expressway bus terminal (if you take bus... More

Had a good stay at things hotel, however the single rooms are incredibly small even for japanese standards. Staff at reception were very helpful and polite. Beds are rather small and short. Breakfast is not worth it as it is a poor version of a western style one, but the quality wasn't the best.

The room is small similar to other hotel in a central district in good location. You will find a hard time to manage your luggage (for my case, I have two big luggages!). Hotel rooms in Japan are small, and in Tokyo or Osaka, even smaller. This is amongst the smaller of them all - a very tight squeeze. Be sure to book the biggest room you can, probably requiring 2 beds. It's very close to Kabukicho, but separated from it by the train lines so there's no cross-contamination of the rowdy night... I have been coming yearly for about 12 years. Always a great front desk team. The physical building is getting a little faded. Not up to the standards of its competitors. The breakfast used to be a Japanese buffet, but has been downgraded to a choice of three set meals. Although the staff was great.

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
