Detailed Reviews
We stayed a Sakura Hatagaya 10 years ago with our then- teenage sons. We returned 10 years later and lots of improvements to the hotel. Staff are amazing and so friendly and helpful. They speak multiple languages including Japanese, English and French so I had no problems communicating with them. They are also helpful and when asked questions, provide us with clear communication.
Though the rooms are a bit narrow, we like to stay here because it is 2 mins walk from Hatagaya station, to connect to Shinjuku station through the new Keio Line. We
I’ve trying out various restaurants around Sakura Hotel. There is a post office around the corner, a chemist, a kombini, 100 yen shop just at the station entrancing and McDonalds both in the station and outside on the Main Street.
Hotel is clean, convenient and very very quiet. I have no complaints about the location
. If at all, next upgrade Sakura does, please try to get the amazing automated Japanese WC toilets. In that narrow toilet/ bathroom, it would be really appreciated.

I really enjoyed one night's stay here. actually the size of the room is small for a double bed, but this is not a problem because the bed is quite comfortable and the room is air-conditioned. Breakfast is included in the stay. The location of Sakura Hotel is just walking distance from Hatagaya train station. There is a prayer room here on the 5th floor. For cheap and Muslim-friendly accommodation in Tokyo, I highly recommend it.

Lower than average prices for Tokyo, but equally good quality. A receptionist deserves a mention for kindness and availability: Yoshi Murao, discreet with the others. True that the structure is 2 steps from the metro, but beware that it is a private line, the day tickets for tourists are not valid, however they are 140 ¥ to Shinjuku. Wet rooms. Pseudo accidental breakfast.

This hotel was in a SUPER cute residential area. It is also literally a 2-minute walk from the nearest metro station. That said, the particular metro line it's on is not one of the more major lines, but it's still very well located. I think I just had to switch lines, once, to get to/from Shinjuku station, for example.
But just beyond this hotel (if you exit the hotel, turn Right, instead of Left towards the metro station...) ...turn Right...and you will quickly find a small, neighborhood-y commercial area with adorable little shops and dining establishments.
As for the room itself, it was small, as expected, but perfect for a short stay (and especially if you are travelling alone). The same room, for 2 people, might feel a bit congested. The price was certainly right!
As for the free 'breakfast', it was pretty 'meh'... basically coffee/tea and some plain toast. The free soup they had was pretty bland...basically just some plain broth with a few vegetables in it.
The front desk staff were great...very helpful...

Surprised, considering I didn’t know what we were getting into…
My mother’s friend booked the hotel for us for a first time visit to Tokyo. Having stayed in typical Westin, Marriott, Hilton-type of hotels, this one seemed off my comfort zone but let me say, I was pleasantly surprised. We were lodged in a traditional Japanese style tatami room that accommodated gourmet of us. The bathroom was tiny but manageable. We frankly spent little time in the hotel so it didn’t matter. The staff is very polite (like all Japanese we met) and courteous. The place while dated, it has free WiFi, free basic breakfast, and just a minute walk to Shinjuku station. The conveniences outweighed everything else. So I strongly endorse this place if budget , location, and convenience is of concern.

While we stayed there , there was a storm and our room on the 3rd floor had lots of water dripping from the ceiling, We were away and when we returned my Apple laptop which I left on a table, was ruined, 100% dead. All my work and data. They moved us to a different room on the first floor. We noticed that water was also getting thru a side wall on this new room, and lucky enough the water did not reach the Japanese style bed on the floor where we were sleeping. Yes they refunded me for the laptop, but just partially, not what I had to pay. The workers are sweet and nice, but management sucks. They gave me $300 short of what I had to pay for a new Mac, plus the time spent looking for a new laptop. Fix the leaks, man!

We really enjoyed our 4-nights stay at Sakura Hatagaya. The hotel is clean and cozy. The staff is very kind and always ready to help. The location is perfect: in two minutes you can reach the metro station, visit one of the best sento we have been and have dinner in one of the traditional restaurants in the neighborhood. We definitely recommend it.

It was good to use it before, so I used it again, but unfortunately this time it was not as good as the last time.
First of all, the pillow smelled a bit.
I also found it a bit inconvenient that the lights in the room don't turn on with the switch at the entrance.
When I first entered the room, I thought the lights were broken, as it could only be turned on and off with a switch at the bedside.
I was also slightly concerned about the fact that the temperature of the shower did not rise much and the water pressure was weak.

Small hotel about 10 mins from the hatakaya metro, cars and buses may find it hard to park infront of this hotel as there is no parking space. Very small rooms as this is tokyo, it's quite clean and the staff speak a multitude of languages. Very helpful people, but rooms are very small. Breakfast is toast, jam, butter and usually a vegetable soup that's direct from their farm. Quite nice and all around the location there is a lawson, convenience store, supermarket, restaurants although not english friendly we just go and point. Lots of food and drink around so no worries about the food at all.

I enjoyed my stay in Sakura Hotel Hatagaya because it is near the Hatagaya station, two stations away from Shinjuku Station. It is affordable compare to other hotels in Tokyo. The room and toilet is narrow, and difficult to move for big people. The staffs are friendly and approachable. I will recommend to my friends and family.

Dear Guest, This is Hoka from Sakura Hotel Hatagaya. On behalf of the Sakura Hatagaya team, we would like to say thank you for choosing to stay with us and taking the time to write us a review. Yes, unfortunately most of the hotel rooms are relatively compact especially in Tokyo. However, if you are looking for a bigger room, we can always recommend our Corner double room and deluxe double room! If you are coming with a group of family, we also recommend our Japanese room which is spacious and fits for 4 people. Please let us know if you have any opportunity to come to Tokyo again! We will more than glad to have you back!
