Had 6 day based at the Kuretake Inn post 28 day cruise to Tokyo. The room was about half the size of our cabin, with en-suite to match & needed more room for luggage storage, but heck, they have a great staff & we really only slept there. It is very well located with a 2 minute walk to the Funabori Metro & a train every 4-5 minutes to any of the Tokyo attractions. The hotel includes breakfast with a photographic menu so you know what you are ordering. Happy hour from 4-6pm every day includes a free drink. Overall its a real experience. Supermarkets & restaurants at your door, even tried the local barber for an Admiral Yamamoto cut which is guaranteed for 6 months before growing out. You must try the Kirin Centre Restaurant by the station for a top meal. wine & beer. It suits backpackers & short holidayers rather than couples laden down with 2 months baggage.

We were at the Kuretake Inn Funabori post cruise on Oct 6th 2018. We stayed 7 nights because we wanted to explore Tokyo and the immediate region. The room, especially the bathroom, is extremely small: There is no place to go around the bed and two people in that room will be crowded. But, most hotel rooms in Japan are small and this hotel is so well located (3-minute walk from the Funabori metro S-17) and there are lots of restaurants to choose from and a shopping mall (Daiei) just about a minute walk from the hotel. We took it with breakfast which is served at the restaurant adjascent to the hotel via an Inside door near the reception. If you take that option, you will be given a menu in japanese, with the different photos for the options included. Very limited English spoken at the restaurant. We had room 903 on the last floor. It was quiet. One important detail: they ask you to be out of the room between 10 am and 4 pm to clean the room. If you cannot respect that rule, you will be given a bag with new towels and whatever is needed. They will not go into your room to clean if you are there. The staff is great, but a lot of them have very, very limited knowledge of English. Actually, there is only one staff member (while we were there) that spoke very decent English. Muraki was extremely helpful as were the other except that she understood us much better. The air conditionning works so, so, The bathroom is quite an experience as it is smaller than an Inside cabin bathroom on a cruise ship. See pictures. On the main floor, there are all kinds of free amenity ranging from tooth brush to even women's hair clips. The hotel ask you to pick up a free drink per person after 4 pm. LImited choice of beer, cold green tea and water. I would go back to this hotel, because, if I am in Japan, it is not to stay in the hotel room. Once you know these rules, it is a very acceptable place to stay, with nice staff and a great location

Me and my husband stayed here on our honeymoon as we wanted somewhere cheap and basic and were very pleased with this lovely little hotel. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and speak good English. They offer lots of freebies (shower gel, shampoo, hair brushes, razors etc.) which is great. The transport links are great, only around the corner from a metro station and they take you straight to shinjuku every few minutes. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a cheap hotel in Tokyo.

Convenient location. Friendly staff. Good price and most of all comfortable. It is a bit smaller than we are used to but has everything we could ever need. If you have forgotten any toiletries or need to use certain appliances just grab one from the store room on the first floor.

This hotel is located a short 4-minute walk from the Funabori station of the Toei Shinjuku line. I hadn’t used the Shinjuku line too much in the past, but I found it very convenient to get into and around the centre of Tokyo. I actually used this hotel twice during my visit to Japan. The first time, I was assigned a room with a single bed, the second time, a room with a double bed. The size of the room was the same, and so it was much more comfortable and “spacious” with a single bed. You might want to request a single bed to make full use of the limited space of the rooms. The staff were very polite and respectful, and tried to fulfill my needs as much as possible. For example, they gladly delayed housekeeping until in the afternoon, so that I could use the room in the morning to get some work done. The wifi worked fine during my stays. My reservation came with breakfast, which is served in an adjacent restaurant on the first floor, right next to the reception. You have a choice of Japanese-style, Korean-style or Western-style breakfast. I always took the Western-style, which included yogurt, coffee, toast, salad and ham and eggs. They were very nice and delicious, perhaps not enough for a person with a big appetite, but absolutely fine with me. I saw a couple from abroad at this restaurant one morning, and they seemed to not speak Japanese. However, the staff at the restaurant spoke perfect English, which made ordering easy. I am guessing that this would be the same for the hotel staff as well, but I did not have the chance to verify.
