This hotel set the bar for luxury! My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights to kick off our honeymoon and it was nothing short of incredible. No detail was missed and everything from the drinks to the food were excellent. A special thank you to Aryan who was so accommodating and helpful. The MO is so lucky to have him!

Hotel's Favorite
This was our first time staying at a Mandarin Oriental property, and it exceeded our expectations. We were beyond impressed. Every staff member we encountered was professional, helpful, kind, and welcoming. They are the definition of hospitality. During our stay, we used many services the hotel had to offer. We had breakfast at K’shiki every morning. Servers were attentive and friendly. The buffet was delicious and had so many high quality options. We had massages at the spa. The facility was small, but very relaxing, clean, and felt luxurious. Best massage I’ve had, and my masseuse even gave me great stretching tips. Of course spa staff was also wonderful and accommodating. Laundry service was prompt, and the laundry access closet connected to the room is brilliant and is the sort of detail that sets M.O. apart from others. Housekeeping paid so much attention to detail when cleaning the room and during turndown service. We loved the fruits and mochis left as gifts every night. Hotel provides water in aluminum bottles, which was much appreciated and convenient. Room service was delicious. Don’t skip on the calamari. As for the room, the view is amazing. Touches like the binoculars, M.O. cookies, tea, and candies made for a very special experience. The bathroom is modern, clean, and has high quality toiletries and robes. Must also mention the shower with rain head and excellent pressure. Other pros. We were able to store our large luggage during a short trip to Kyoto and picked it upon our return. Hotel has easy access to the metro on the lower floors of the building. Lawson and Family Mart convenience stores within walking distance. Thank you M.O and staff. We can’t wait to visit again.

For various reasons we had to extend our stay by another night and were pleased to do so. It allowed us to experience K’shiki restaurant as well as Tapas Molecular Bar which we were already booked into. Osamu Okazaki ensured that our check in went extremely smoothly and offered services which made us feel very welcomed. He really did relieve the stress that had been caused by the day’s events. The room was magnificent and allowed us to totally unwind. The hotel is close enough to places of interest to fill your time if needs be. The restaurants were exceptional. K’shiki with it’s vague nod towards italian cuisine was exceptional. We chose Chef’s Dinner Menu and each course was interesting and surprising. Service was exceptional. Tapas Molecular Bar is one of those restaurants which is really special in the world. It’s hard to write a review without ruining the surprises. Suffice to say with only seating for eight you really do need to consider your reservation well in advance. Chef Kento Ushikubo is as talented as it gets. His food is intense in taste, creative and in many cases just baffling. He could almost be a member of the Magic Circle with the illusions he creates. One of the most thoughtful and considerate people I have met, and meet him you do because he is with you preparing everything throughout the meal, you just wanted to applaud with a standing ovation at the end. He made it particularly special for our wedding anniversaries and I can’t say how because it would spoil another illusion. I was just staggered that with all our experience of eating throughout the world we were introduced to new experiences. Spoiler alert; I cannot believe his ‘powdered ice cream’ has not been ‘borrowed’ by other chefs. Sadly, unless we manage to return, some of those experiences will be a once in a lifetime event. Thank you for a memorable evening

Tokyo is simply one of the greatest cities in the world. From the dining, to the shopping, the architecture, the ease of public transportation, and most importantly, Japanese culture, travelling to this city is unlike any other. That being said, staying with one of the world's renowned hotel brands while in Tokyo, means expectations are extremely high. First point of contact, the concierge. Planning for our trip began over half a year prior. This is the reality if one expects to have any chance of securing coveted reservations at Tokyo's top restaurants. Nihonbashi Kakigaracho Sugita, DEN, Sazenka, Higashiazabu Amamoto, Torishiki etc. Without prior planning, do not expect the concierge to magic a reservation on your party's behalf. Even then, MANY of the top top restaurants simply no longer accept reservations made through any hotel concierge. This change is especially prevalent since post COVID and it makes perfect business sense (for the restauranteur). As an example, any single of these famous sushi-yas have months long wait lists for their regulars as is. Ask yourself, why should a pre-eminent sushi chef "give up" one or more seats (when there are only 8 to 9 seats, with a maximum of 3 seatings a day), to someone who: may not speak Japanese (a potential for miscommunication), views their restaurant as a mere checkbox on a list because a book or a blog or Instagram told them it's the place to go, or worse, someone who eats only the neta of a nigiri, due to "dietary restrictions?" Excuse the rant, but from reading many reviews for MO Tokyo, it seems like entitlement and irresponsibility of certain travelers, has a lot to do with why reservations have become so complicated in the first place. The concierge at MO can and will assist with reservations. But 1. First, do your own homework to see if the restaurant even accepts hotel concierge requests. 2. Many of the top restaurants are either regulars only or use online booking services. Hint: Get familiar with those sites! 3. Be FLEXIBLE with your times and dates. Provide a range of acceptable times and that will make the Concierge's task much easier and a desired outcome more likely. 4. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, have the decency to show up to your reservation. I believe much of the pain in securing reservations nowadays is also due to restaurants' experiences of blatant disregard of honoring reservations. Or be open to the hotel's suggestions! Tokyo has more options than one can likely cover in a lifetime and generally, most establishments will treat you warmly and serve you a delicious meal. This is not explicitly stated on the MO website, but the hotel IS indeed accessible by a couple of the subway lines. (Ginza or Hanzomon Lines, Stop: Mitsukoshimae, use exit A7). However, if arriving from Narita via NEX Express, expect to get dropped off in Tokyo Station and I'd recommend a short taxi ride to the hotel. A lot easier with luggage than attempting to transfer to one of the above lines. Arrival on the 38th floor lobby. The Tokyo Sky Tree on one side and (if you're lucky) Mt. Fuji on the other, and a "floating" bonsai installation in the middle;  it's always a sight to behold whether at check in for the first time or after a day of sightseeing. 3 notable highlights of our room : 2 item daily laundry service included  (due to extended stay), the breakfast service, and early morning spa access. More on these later. The room (Mandarin Grand King) itself was fantastic. It was cleaned twice daily, abundant space, pillow menu, constantly replenished bottled water, shower with multiple showerhead options, small touches like lens wipes, cable wraps, stationery, etc. As we stayed through a birthday celebration, a whole cake from the bakeshop downstairs was brought to our room literally 2 minutes after checking in. Impressive! Another quick anecdote on the attention to detail. I had a package shipped to the hotel so we did not have to carry a shopping bag through the day. Upon returning to the room, the boxed up package was set up on the desk and a pair of scissors rested conveniently on said package.  One suggestion for the (Mandarin Grand) guest room that could use some updating / refreshment. It may be time to update the bathrooms. While good, not great. It's not bright enough , the sliding mirror is kind of odd / needs to be larger, and the toilet should be updated to Toto's flagship NEOREST line (as at the Taipei MO). Breakfast. Held on the 38th floor from 7 - 10:30AM daily, this part buffet part made-to-order service was fantastic. Quality items being refreshed constantly, a genuinely hardworking wait staff, and did I mention how delicious and high quality each offering was? XO sauce with dim sum, fresh cold tofu with accoutrements, sea bream iron pot rice,  3 types of bacon depending on crispiness, fresh fruit, and THE BEST made to order omelette... Yes it can get crowded, but I wouldn't say it ever got overwhelming. What an impressive way to start each and every morning! Special shout out to Masato and actually, all members of the morning breakfast staff to be honest. Now what makes the breakfast perk even more over the top is that one can elect for room service instead. Choose between Japanese or American breakfast sets, both with options so bountiful it's unlikely you'd finish. This was super convenient for the days we wanted to get an early start. Spa facility access. Steam sauna, dry sauna, lounge chair pool, ice bowl, and Vitality Pool. Locker room with a spread of grooming products. One of the best views of any spa I've visited. Wake up early and start your day here. I cannot think of a better (and possibly more underutilized) part of the hotel. Special shout out to Nano at the reception here. The only other non-breakfast meal we had at the hotel was dinner at the lauded Pizza Bar on 38th. The pizza, calzone, and caprese salad were wonderful. This was pizza made with perfect technique and mostly local ingredients which was a surprise! The (Japanese) stracciatella cheese was the best I've ever had. Chef made it a point to say that each slice of pizza should be identical - the ratio of sauce, 2 pieces of cheese, and basil were indeed present on each slice. There's something to be said for a more classic "rustic" style of pizza one may find elsewhere, but the decision for each bite to be "perfect" was a welcome one. Best of all, another long stay perk was 15% off the total bill. Nice! All in all, there is really not much to quibble about from our experience at Mandarin Oriental. Much of this review was dedicated to hoping other travelers temper their expectations regarding the Concierge service. I agree that the Concierge team needs to start responding to emails in a more timely fashion. No one likes the feeling of being ghosted, especially if a stay at the property is confirmed. But I can only imagine the types of requests (most probably very answerable queries, able to be done with a little bit of self-research). The myth that a 5 star hotel concierge can work miracles is simply no longer true. Ratings for this wonderful hotel should not be negatively skewed due to the unrealistic and uninformed opinions of entitled (potential) travelers. Rather, focus on the attention to detail, overall feeling of luxury, and hospitality shown by the MO Tokyo staff; that should make your stay a 5 star experience.

We stayed for 4 nights at MO Tokyo in May. We LOVED the staff at this hotel, everyone was so nice and helpful especially the bell desk on ground floor. And also the Mandarin Bar Manager, Kiver was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was very nice and spacious, but the bathroom design might not be the safest, the tile floor in the shower area was very slippery when wet and I was very concerned for the safety of my mom whom I was traveling with. We requested for a runner mat in the shower area, but still needed to put big towels on the floor after shower to ensure safety. The location of the hotel was great, direct access to subway, good choices of restaurants nearby and even a department store next door. It was a lovely neighborhood to be in.

We had the good fortune to begin our trip to Japan with a three night stay in the beautifully appointed Oriental Suite with stunning floor to ceiling corner views of the city. From my early email requests to place an extra bed in the living area for our daughter and to please stock the refrigerator with daily fresh cream and honey for our early morning coffee, to a beautiful strawberry and whipped cream cake waiting for us as we arrived on our wedding anniversary, we felt the staff went out of their way to make our stay extraordinary. The suite was so spacious and the additional powder room was perfect as we were traveling with our 24 year old daughter. The dimmer lighting on all of the switches made it easy to create a perfect ambiance in every nook. My only quibble would be- why have a TV blocking the fabulous bedroom window view when there is a TV on the wall in the living room? We never turned either on. The daily breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful with so many choices, both Western and Japanese. The service was impeccable and thoughtful. One day a waiter asked what our plans for the day were. A few moments later he reappeared with some printed information about our intended destination. It was also nice to just order room service on our first evening after a long day of travel. One afternoon I went down to get a few treats from the bakery and the manager insisted on hand delivering the bag to our room. Beautiful unexpected gifts of bakery treats and fresh fruits were left or delivered to our suite every day. We enjoyed the location. There is a subway station directly under the hotel. The streets surrounding the hotel are tree lined and relatively quiet. Requested taxis arrived quickly. . The Mandarin Oriental Tokyo was the ultimate soft landing for the beginning of a trip. A sanctuary where we could just stay in our suite looking out to the bird's eye views from our living room, bedroom or bathtub and have the feeling that we weren't missing a thing. Thank you, to all of the staff at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. Our stay there will always be among our fondest travel memories.

We had the Oriental Suite on the 34th floor. I have stayed in many fine hotels but this might be the best suite I have ever enjoyed. The views are phenomenal, the suite is gorgeous and the extra details, such as different special fruits in a 'fruit fridge', nightly Japanese mochi treats and more made our stay so nice. Service is attentive and friendly, never obtrusive. We also especially enjoyed their Cantonese restaurant 'Sense". The location is perfect.

Good location, the hotel is just above the Mitsukoshimae Station; Room is super big compared to other hotels in Tokyo and the view from the room is so good, Shibuya Sky can be skipped. Must try the signature cake, Kumo, from the Gourmet Shop. Having breakfast facing the Fuji Mountain is also the highlight of the stay.

My friend and I arrived early in the morning to store our luggage and bags before heading proceeding to our planned activities for the day. Once we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted by the lovely concierge and they came immediately to assist us with our bags. After getting our luggage tag, we went up to the reception which is located on the 38th floor, it has the most amazing and breathtaking view! I was checked in by Mike who was very friendly and pleasant to talk to! The check-in provided by Mike was seamless and he was able to assist me with any questions that I have! We came back in the evening to collect our key cards and we were attended by Janssen. Since it was our first time here, he managed to pick out our body language really quickly as we were trying to find the lift - kudos for that! We were also greeted by the room attendant, Lisa (I hope I get her name right!), we didn't require any turn-down service for our room, however, instead of acknowledging us and walking away, she went above and beyond to ask if we needed extra bottled water or any extra amenities! She also passed us some mochi matcha treats which I love! I told her that I love matcha and she immediately gave me 2 more so that I can share them with my friend! That was such a wow factor and it definitely made my day! The room was spacious and the view of the room is marvelous! Having to see how the landscape changed from early evening to late evening was simply magical. I checked out the next morning while carrying a lot of bags with me (due to the tons of shopping I've done) and Thao from the lobby saw me and immediately came over to help me with my bags! I was worried that the bags may be too heavy but she reassured me that it was okay! The check-out process was done by the lovely receptionist Hikari who has the most pleasant smile! She went through the bill with me and enquired if I have any questions for her. Apart from that, she and Mike asked me about the plans I have for the day before I fly back home! This is not just any regular check-out process whereby you have the guests make payment and leave the hotel, but there is a touch of personalisation which I truly love. My stay at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo was nothing but incredible. All the staffs were so initiative, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay - a special thanks to Mike, Janssen, Lisa, Thao and Hikari who made my first experience in Mandarin Oriental Tokyo a special one. It was definitely a bummer that I only managed to book here for one night, I should have booked for more! I'll definitely be coming back to have this amazing experience all over again!

Excellent Hospitality by MO Tokyo. From checking in to having breakfast MO colleagues were so warm and hospitable it was amazing. I also had pleasure to dine at the infamous Pizza Bar on 38th floor and now I can say that it was one of the best pizza I had pleasure to try. Can't wait to come bak to Tokyo again and try other establishment within MO Tokyo.
