My stay at Planetyze Hostel was just alright. Friendly staff and clean building. I liked the comfort of the room it was nice and comfortable bed. Cons: Maybe its just the timing while im staying there. Staff is rarely around on the first floor when I need to ask a question. The small kitchen was never open when I went to check in the morning and afternoon as well as night but they had free hotwater and glasses to borrow. Saw staff sometimes but would leave the desk after a short time. I always had terrible neighbors on the 8th floor. After 11pm they're super loud talking till 3am and watching movies so loud on there laptop. Quiet time supposed to be at 11pm but nobody seems to be following the rules. Our neighbors consistently hogged the shower room like it was apart of there bedroom. Sure theres other floors you can go to use the bathroom but sometimes you just dont got the time to make it to the bathroom riding the elevator up and down. Guest would leave the bathroom dirty and leave there stuff in there. Supposed to not have shoes in the bathroom either. Other guest were pouring food in the sink even tho there was a sign right there do not pour food here. I would enjoy my time more if we had neighbors that were more toughtful of others. After a long day of walking around japan I just want to relax and rest. Planetyze hostel is great its just the neighbors made the stay experience so bad.

Dear Steven H, Thank you for staying with us, and for appreciating our staff services and cleanliness of the hostel. We apologize that the room was too noisy for you including the manners of the neighbors. In order to make things a little more comfortable for our guests, we do offer complimentary earplugs at our front desk. But we will also try noticing the guests during the check-in to make guest's stay more comfortable. Our kitchen area was only opened as a cafe, but we recently opened as the shared kitchen area. Since there are no overnight staff at our hostel, the kitchen will be opened between 9am~9pm. Until the open hours, guests are free to cook with the basic materials provided. We look forward to having you back again. Sincerely, Planetyze Hostel staff

We used this as a base to explore Tokyo, and it worked very well. The hostel is near 3 train stations (including a JR one), which makes it easy to get around. Everything was very clean, and we ate breakfast from the nearby 7-11 in the seating area every morning. The beds were comfy, and the shared facilities were clean. We were on the 4th floor, which had showers and toilets for both men and women, as well as a laundry machine. The walls are very thin, though, but our neighbors were all considerate. Our room was spacious enough that we were comfortable, and we even had a chair! The slippers provided were comfy as well. There is no shared kitchen, so if that is your thing at a hostel, this would not be a good choice. There are lots of inexpensive places to eat nearby, so that is what we did. The hostel has umbrellas to borrow, which is nice in the rainy season. We stayed as a family in a 4 bed room, and were pleased with our stay.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you so much for your nice comments and staying with us. We are glad to hear that your stay here met your expectations. Our hostel is located in a convenient area where 3 main stations are located, and all staff here are able to speak English to help guest's travel. We had opened the 1F shared kitchen recently (December 2019), so we are hoping to see you again here :) Sincerely, Planetyze Hostel staff

This hostel is great just as a place to sleep and a base for doing stuff in Tokyo. Very clean and modern, helpful staff, relatively central (walking distance to Akihabara etc.), amenities such as a 7 eleven close by, and a small but cosy social space on the ground floor. Towels changed every 3 days on request and bedding provided, free water and guest fridge. Do note there is no communal kitchen, and the social space doesn't hold a very large group. As such, you don't get the traditional hostel experience and it feels more like a budget hotel, with hostel elements, which was just as good. If you're solo or a couple this place is pretty much perfect, families might be more comfortable elsewhere. Walls are thin, but everyone was very considerate noise wise when we were there. However, if you're tall like me, you'll bump your head on the shower light fixture multiple times. Overall great, would happily stay again. P.s. thanks to the staff member who helped us book Disney tickets in FamilyMart by translating for us. Very much appreciated!

Dear Geordie C , Thank you for your comments and staying with us. We are happy to hear that your stay here met your expectations, as we try our best to provide what our guests needs. As our hostel is limited with space, we are able to provide the rooms with a reasonable price with the best location to travel around in Tokyo. Since the customer's experience here depends much on with their neighbor guests, we kindly ask each guests during our check-in time to keep our rules during their stay. We had also opened the shared kitchen area at the 1F, so if you have a chance to come back to Tokyo please feel free to use :) Sincerely, Planetyze Hostel staff

Planetyze hostel is a reasonably priced hostel in Tokyo. The outstanding thing is the toilets and showers are very very clean with shampoo and shower gel and soup provided in the shower room. There’s also a hair dryer for use in one of the rooms where toilets and showers are. I recommend this hostel if you are looking for an affordable bed to sleep in while sharing with 9 other guests because there are 10 bed in one room and this can be very very tight when the room is full. During my stay only 6 beds were occupied but still very tight in space. Limited services is provided by the staff at the reception. Therefore it’s only a bed for sleeping that you needed, then this hostel will suit your need, plus very clean toilets and shower rooms.

In general, we (family of four) liked this very modern and stylish hostel. The room was very clean with 2 bunk beds, albeit small. Each bed had its own light, curtain, and power. I appreciated that the bed linens and cushions were already prepared. There was also one towel per person, and 4 spacious lockers with slippers. The black-out curtains worked well. Unfortunately, the room walls seem to be made from cardboard. You could literally listen to the conversations in the room next door. The shared sanitary facilities were very clean, but did not work well for us. The toilets had very small sinks which could only be used for washing hands, but not really for brushing teeth or similar. The male shower did not have a sink at all. There was just one wash room providing one sink for the entire floor. For me (male), it meant that in the mornings, I needed to use three different shared bathrooms, possibly needing to wait for each one: toilet, shower, sink. The other major limitation was the lack of a shared kitchen, and eating in the rooms was not allowed. There was just a shared fridge on 6th floor, and a cafe in the lobby, where you were allowed to also eat your own food. You could purchase cereal, juices, coffee and other stuff in the cafe (must pay first!); water and microwave was provided free of charge. Luggage storage available for a fee. Nice location. Not exactly cheap for us (EUR 120 per night for family of 4). I would not come here again, and rather try to find another hostel with less limitations, or a cheap hotel.
