The hotel is inspired by the traditions and customs of Edo. Using traditional colors of Edo as a base, each room has a distinctive design representing the gaiety, glamour and vigor of old Tokyo. Meanwhile, the architecture and decor unite these traditions with modern building techniques. Located in the center of Tokyo, adjacent to Hanzomon Station, the hotel offers easy access around the city.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is in central Tokyo, yet in a really quiet neighbourhood. I was here for work, and this hotel is close to Japanese government buildings and a number of embassies, so the location worked for me. However, I would say if you are here to see and be surrounded by the vibrant city that is Tokyo, some other neighbourhoods might be better (depending, of course, of what you like).
That said, it is not poorly connected, although there are areas easier to get to. There is a tube station (Hanzomon / 半蔵門, on the line of the same name) just seconds from the entrance to the hotel. That tube line may connect to some of the busy areas, such as Shibuya, but if coming on the train from Narita into Tokyo station, or on the monorail from Haneda into Hamamatsucho station, it's probably easier to take taxis from those stations onto the hotel, rather than navigate the tube network with suitcases. It was perhaps a 10-15 minutes in the taxi from the end of the monorail line that comes from Haneda airport; Tokyo station would be under ten minutes by taxi.
The hotel itself was comfortable enough. The reception desk was on the ground floor, and staff could speak English. The room was small but decent quality, so good value from my perspective. Plus whilst large rooms do exist in Tokyo, they tend to be in really high end establishments (and so have a hefty price tag).
I stayed just as Covid-19 was becoming the global issue it now is, and they were very good at cleaning and providing sanitiser and the like. Breakfast was good. At the time I was there, it was served as a wide-ranging buffet, but I know many places currently don't do that for public health reasons. You did have to pay for breakfast in advance, booking it at reception and then going through, rather than going in and giving your room number. Given the dining hall was off the lobby, that wasn't a major hardship.
I mentioned the area not being in the beating heart of Tokyo. Being Japan, there were some convenience stores within yards of the place (and these open 24 hours a day and sell a wide range of food, drink and other items). There were a modest number of well priced restaurants, but this is not a busy area; many of these only opened for lunch and in the evening, rather than being open all day.
For joggers, it's a good area in that Tokyo's most famous jogging route (around the moat of the Imperial Palace, 5km per lap) is very close. The etiquette is to go around clockwise, but it you are out at 6am, it's quiet enough to go whichever way. By 7am, it's busier so best to run with the flow (the attached map has a blue cross on, which is roughly where the hotel is... not far from the route at all).
Would I stay here again? Probably, especially if I was here for work. It is comfortable and well maintained. As a couple or with family? Possibly, although when visiting Tokyo on holiday, we usually prefer to be in a slightly more lively or connected area (although price and level of service were good, so who knows?).

Thank you for staying at Hotel Monterey Hanzomon this time and your valuable evaluation. We believe that there are many points that can be improved in various ways so that customers can receive higher evaluations. We're so close to the station, Exit 5, Hanzomon Sta, Tokyo Metro, subway within 1 min. This area is business area and be quiet through a day. Hanzomon is the center of Tokyo, big city and it's good to access other areas, but Hanzomon line has just 1 line itself, so you need to change lines in many cases. Certainly, access from the airports must be done by train, bus or taxi. It costs a certain amount of money and time. It's about 15 min between Tokyo Sta. and us. We're so glad you like us, our room. We are thoroughly implementing measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, COVID-19. Our breakfast is set-menu for the time being due to such recent situation and be served at a banquet hall. Convenience stores, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, these surround us and there're not so many restaurants. Almost of them are close on Sat., Sun and national holidays. Imperial Palace is so close to us and many runners are there. That is typical scene in Tokyo. Our guests are usually there. We will continue to do our best to satisfy you even more. If you have any improvements, please say anything. Thank you for staying at Hotel Monterey Hanzomon this time. We look forward to your return. Hotel Monterey Hanzomon Reservation Department Murakami

Hotel Monterey Hanzomon is situated in a very clean and quite suburb.
The train station is opposite the hotel, with a elevator to take your luggage onto the subway.
There are many cafes, restaurants, 7-Eleven, and local supermarkets near by.
The staff are very polite and can speak English. Didn't have the buffet breakfast, so can't comment on it.
The room and bathroom is very clean. They also provide you with Pj's and slippers.
The bath products were very nice and had a array of items.
There is a laundry mat walking distance from the hotel that only takes 100yen for the use of washing machines and dryers.
The hotel is walking distance to the imperial palace and gardens.
A lovely location, a lovely stay at the hotel.

Dear, Thank you for your staying with us this time. This is business area and we're so close to Hanzomon Sta., subway Exit 5. There's not so many restaurants, but some cafes , convenience stores and small supermarkets nearby as you said. We're so glad to hear our staff can help your staying this time with themselves and rooms and give you a comfortable time and space. Moreover, we'll hope enjoy the breakfast next time if you have. Yes, our pajamas are 2 kinds, M or L, not for children, separate style. Then it takes about 15 min. to the nearest laundromat from us and no washing machine with us. However it's available laundry service with us. The imperial palace is far from us about 5 min. by walk. If you enter, it'll take about 20 min. to the nearest gate. Thank you for your staying with us this time and such lovely opinion. We're looking forward to seeing you soon again near the future.

The Hotel Monterey Hanzomon has some very good features. Firstly, the rooms were quiet and if the air-conditioning is not right, you can just ring Reception and they will adjust it remotely to whatever temperature is comfortable for you. They have a very good buffet breakfast. The hotel staff are very helpful and polite.
Most importantly, the hotel is right across the street from a metro station on the Hanzomon Line. You can just take the lift down to street level, roll your suitcase across the street to the lift, and take the lift right down to platform level. The hotel will sell you discount tickets to get to Narita Airport from the Airport Bus Centre, which is only about 5 stops from the hotel on the Hanzomon line. You can roll your suitcase onto the Metro car and off again at the correct station. If you watch the exits carefully, there is one where you can take the lift up to the Airport Bus Centre. The bus ride to Narita is about 50 minutes. In short, you can go all the way from the Hotel Monterey Hanzomon to Narita Airport and not once have to lift your suitcase, all for a price much cheaper than alternatives.
Being so close to the Metro station means it is really easy to get around Tokyo. You can purchase a 72-hour Metro pass and use it as you wish. If the last day when you want to go to Narita is included in the 72 hours from the first use and validation, all you need to pay to get to Narita is 1900 yen for the bus trip.

Dear, Thank you for your staying with us this time. We're so glad to hear you like it. This is business area so it's quite all day long and we also love this environment. Then our rooms have already renewed and you can change air-conditioning by yourselves, no need calling reception. It'd been more useful. Yes, we're so close to Hanzomon Sta., subway Exit 5 and it's good to access everywhere. We do not have an access from / to the airports directly that's why we recommend you such bus service as you said. We sell 3 kinds of subway tickets, 24 , 36 and 72 for adults and children at reception. All of the guests staying with us are available. The time will start when the ticket is inserted at station. Thank you for your staying with us this time and such lovely opinion. We're looking forward to seeing you soon again near the future.

I stayed here for 5 nights on a solo trip. The location is easy, being opposite the Hanzomon station on the Hanzomon line, and is 4 stops from Shibuya. The neighbourhood is residential and quiet, but it was hard to get food during the New Year weekend. The semi-double room was very comfortable for a single traveller, with the bathtub being of good depth and the size of the room being pleasantly large. The only complaint I had was the pillow being too hard, and that the heating is a little slow. I'd be happy to stay again!

Excellent hotel and hospitality, Rooms are small but have everything you need. The hotel sits literally in front of the subway station (Z05) purple Honzumon line, so is convenient to get to almost anywhere in Tokyo in 20-45 min. We had no complaints about the hotel itself. That being said, the neighborhood is very quiet and there are less shops and restaurants available in the immediate area than in other places in Tokyo. Also the airport bus doesn’t go to this area so you must take the subway (or taxi) to get here if you have limited mobility this can be an issue navigating the subway with your bags. If you are into nightlife and walking around little shops and trying lots of restaurants you may want to choose another neighborhood. If you want a relatively central location to explore Tokyo that is very quiet at night this is the place for you!

I really liked this property. I spent 2 weeks here and am very happy with my stay. The only complaint is that I'd come back after 8 or 9 hours, and my room smelled of sewer mildly, especially the bathroom. I think they were working on the building. Also, the bed was way too hard. My back would almost go out each morning, and I don't have back issues. Room 919 by the way. But I love the neighborhood!! Safe & quiet!

Great hotel - rooms are adequately big and excellent shower facilities. Big buffet too with variety of japanese, chinese, and western dishes. Good location as just opposite subway entrance for Hanzonmon line. Located at quiet residential area near British embassy and Imperial Palace - which makes for a good walk in the area. Good air-conditioning facility too in room as one can control both for cool and hot air in room.

You can live without a Japanese girlfriend, but you can't live without trying Japanese girls. Come to Japan for business trips, travel, and relaxation. TG:cc383 and Line:03828. We accept foreigners, and can communicate in Chinese, so you don't need to know Japanese.
Hi, Yes a big Family Mart is nearby - cross the road (station side), walk to your Right, turn first left, walk several metres, Family Mart sign should be visible.
If you know how to use the subway system, Hanzomon station is across the street.
Take the subway to Tokyo central and you can get airport trains from there
