Ginza, Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza. It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels, world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular with anyone looking for a night out.

My husband and I went to Tokyo for anniversary and it exceeded my expectations. The hotel is located very close to Tokyo Station and a few steps walking to Ginza. Staff is super kind and nice. Bedroom was amazing with the Imperial Gardens view. Breakfast is very good also in both spots: lobby and basement. And please do the afternoon tea at the lobby 😋 We loved each day staying here!

The hotel is extremely well located in Maranouchi, opposite the Imperial Gardens and near Ginza. There is actually a metro stop (Hibiya) accessible directly from the hotel, making it particularly convenient in foul weather. Our room was spacious, well designed and had wonderful views of the Imperial Gardens and Hibiya Park. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom intelligently laid out, and the dressing room area was large enough to have us unpack three suitcases and keep lots of shopping. Lighting throughout is set up with various moods allowing for the right atmosphere. The service was impeccable at the hotel from the courteous and efficient early check-in (courtesy of Amex), to the attentive maid service and breakfast service every morning. Laundry was excellent and quick, and everything came back beautifully wrapped. The pool is large and great for swimming laps, and there is a hot tub as well as an area where you can lounge in with breathtaking city and park views. The spa services are excellent with a great steam room. We only ate in the lobby restaurant but the food was excellent for breakfast and for a late lunch.

My two girlfriends and I spent 4 days here on our first trip to Tokyo. The service and attention to detail was second to none. Our room was very spacious and perfect for 3 people. However, If you’ve never been to Tokyo before, I would recommend really researching the attractions/areas you want to see and book your hotel based on that. Our only complaint was that The Peninsula was probably not in the best location for the typically touristic things that we did. We spent a lot of time in taxis.

After spending my birthday weekend here the hotel was a disappointment. The service was very impersonal and most of the hotel staff spent the entire time apologizing for their poor service. We booked dinner at the Chinese restaurant for my birthday and sadly there was no special consideration given for the fact we had booked for my birthday. The dinner was rushed and our duck was hacked up like the duck attacked the waiter. No cake no cookies not even a happy birthday. Sad. Our bed was small and it felt like whenever we left the room the temperature would become so stuffy and hot we felt suffocated. The hotel was located in a convenient part of Ginza but other than that we will not be returning to this location. Very sad because we had high hopes but the hotel staff seems to be overwhelmed.

Dear 721zac, Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us on TripAdvisor. We deeply regret that your experience was far from what you had hoped for, and I sincerely apologise for the disappointment caused to you. Your comments regarding the lapses in service and the lack of personal touches have been well noted and I assure you that your feedback has been shared and reviewed with our team. These service lapses are truly unacceptable for our brand and definitely not up to par with the level of hospitality we strive to provide to all our guests. Should you be willing, I would appreciate if you can contact me directly on josephlee@peninsula.com, so that I may discuss your experience further. We hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back in the future where I’d be happy to personally ensure that we meet and exceed your expectations. Yours sincerely, Joseph Lee Hotel Manager
