Neighborhood
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.

The staff was very friendly, the beds in the dorms are comfortable and even tho breakfast only consists of toast with various spreads and soup I was very satisfied with my stay there. If you are looking for a cheap stay where you can meet new people from all over the world - this is the place for you!

My family and I wanted to spend New Year’s in Tokyo, so we booked a week at Sakura Hotel Jimbocho. This is personally my 3rd/4th time staying here, so it’s safe to say I really like it here. Best part for me is the staff, led by Peter Chen. Yeah, the rooms are a little small, but it is the best value place I have stayed in Tokyo. Besides, what are you doing in Tokyo if you’re just going to stay in your room? Actually, I did stay in my room for a good chunk of our last trip since I got sick. And I was so thankful that the beds were plenty comfortable for me, and I was able to get back on my feet after only a couple of days. The all-you-can-drink tea (among other drinks) at the 1F had a lot to do with it. So thanks again to the crew at Sakura Jimbocho for taking care of me.
