My 10 y/o child and I stayed here while on a trip to Tokyo. She picked a ryokan for the unique experience. We had a great stay - comfortable room with everything you need including Wi-fi, TV, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, facial products, coffee/tea, microwave and fridge in the room. The bottled water and juice in the room was complimentary. The bathroom/shower/bath was incredible - the bath and shower were made from cedar. It smelled amazing. And of course - an amazing toilet. The lobby offers free beverages and the staff was wonderful. While not many of the staff spoke English, they seemed accustomed to hosting non-Japanese speakers and were very helpful. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk from the train station. We felt very safe walking at all times of the day and night. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The lobby and the room and everything were downright immaculate. Japan tends to be clean in general, but this was above that bar. My room was comfortable and there were all the amenities I needed, including a refrigerator and microwave, discreetly tucked away in a cabinet. There was a large 50" TV and high-speed internet. Despite its name, this is not really a ryokan aside from the fairly traditional Japanese theme to the rooms. The beds are contemporary mattresses (just on the floor). This is OK as I wasn't looking for a traditional ryokan. But just be advised if you're looking for the traditional ryokan experience, you should stay elsewhere. This is much more like a hotel with a traditional Japanese twist to it. It's really one part spa-hotel, one part ryokan, and one part modern hotel. Pros: All the above. Very good value for the price. The bathtub was in traditional Japanese style. They provide free water and plenty of different toiletries. Cons: Inconvenient location (this was the major downside) -- it is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest station, which isn't covered by your Tokyo Metro or Toei passes, so expect to pay a bit more for transportation into the city. It is also a bit of a walk to the nearest convenient store. My room had shutters on the window, which may be nice for people who want to sleep late, but they completely shut out the light altogether (it was pitch black in my room at 8am). The maid service comes by pretty early in the morning. There's no "Do Not Disturb" or "Clean Now" signs to put on your door handle, so you either need to be out at 9am or your room won't be cleaned. The TV is really nice, but the channels and movies on demand are only in Japanese, so I didn't really get to enjoy it. They should offer some English options, in my opinion. They do have a BluRay player attached to the TV, so if they had a library of English-language BluRay disks downstairs, that would solve the problem. Overall, I'm glad I stayed here. It was very comfortable. I'd rate it 4.5 stars out of 5 if I could.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and we were really sad to leave! The best part of this hotel is the Japanese bath tub. We literally used it 3 times a day and it was soothing after a long day of walking. The room is quite small but it was good for two people. Bed is super comfortable. The staff here speak very minimal English but they were patient and really nice. We had to leave the room key with the receptionist every time we left the hotel. The walk to the station is about 10 minutes but we didn't mind it at all once we found our way around.

This was our first trip to Japan and I wanted a touch of tradition. Therefore, it had to be a Ryokan that we stayed in. I found this one by pure accident and I’m so pleased that I did. Located about 10 minutes from Gottano station, it’s tricky to find the first time. Once you’ve got your bearings though, all is good. (Be sure to remove your shoes upon arrival) The staff here are wonderful women. The English is limited but their happy, smiling faces and hand gestures make it very easy to be understood. The room we stayed in was marvellous and just what I was hoping for. The low bed was super comfortable, the amenities in the room were spot on. The bathroom was great and the heated seat on the loo was a nice touch! Free WiFi with a password that changes daily. Free drinks - water, coffee, tea...plus a drinks dispenser in the lobby offering various hot drinks and sodas for free. I would quite happily stay here again. It is truly great value for money.
