Killawasi Lodge is an oasis. It's charming and has beautiful grounds, with bushes pruned in the shape of animals. There are six or seven hammocks just waiting for a visitor to lie down with a good book and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. My husband went on the three-hour trek and loved it. I stayed back, nursing a mild case... More

Had a wonderful one night stay at Killawasi Lodge. Felt like we were in Costa Rica, or on an African safari. The rooms (the ones we saw and stayed in) are one story; the rooms open onto a porch/patio with chairs that look out onto a field facing the river/canyon. Very clean, spacious rooms and comfortable (firm but not too... More

A few weeks ago we stayed in Killawasi for 3 nights. It was fantastic! With a beautiful view, hammocks and great, big rooms, it was an amazing place to stay. The food in the restaurant was very nice and good prepared. The rooms were big, the beds were huge, the shower was clean, new and warm. We stayed in the... More

The colca canyon is beautiful and the natural habitat of condors. The lodge's facilities were decent but lacked charm. The person at the reception was quite rude and couldn't find at first our reservation and even asked us if we were at the correct hotel. The food was average at best. The highlight was waking up with two lamas outside... More

We left wishing that we could've stayed longer! We spent one afternoon and one night here and had to leave early the next morning for a tour of the Colca Canyon, but we left having experienced a wonderful short stay! The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and well equipped and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food at their... More

Booked a tour through the lodge connecting Puno to Arequipa with a 2 night stay. The colonial tour transport segments we fine but the lodge proved the highlight. Hot water, heat, easy and delicious dining options. We visited the hot springs in the morning as suggested before the crowds arrived around 11am, was perfect. Tour taken at 3pm was great... More

I booked a 3-day/2-night Colca Canyon tour through Killawasi. The tour itself was solid. The lodge is amazing. So quaint and relaxing. We did horseback riding through the lodge and it was a wonderful way to see parts of the canyon. Jose always seemed to be available to answer any questions we had and to organize our horseback riding, etc.... More

We stayed here instead of Chaivay. What a lovely find. Just off the town square. You could walk there safely in evening which was nice and we had a drink and food at the local cafe which was very good and friendly. This hotel was very relaxing. We had a lovely garden room with a great relaxing view and nice... More

So how does a cozy hotel with great food, comfortable bed and hot shower get such low grade? The answer is - it's their tours. It might seem unfair to rate a hotel on their tours, but the truth is that you don't stay at Killawasi lodge unless you booked their tour package. So, we booked the 3 night 4... More
