This was an experience from start to finish: from the warm welcome from friendly, local staff; the sumptuous bed; spotless room and outstanding food, we had a truly magical, memorable stay. Loved every minute of it. The Jerusalem Artichoke and Parmesan Veloute was a taste sensation!

This beautiful building was an excellent choice for our niece's wedding - a proper country house hotel. Lots of lovely rooms, large and small and all very warm and inviting. I had a single room on the second floor. It was overlooking the gardens and really peaceful. I thought that the water pressure would be poor because of the age...

We spent a weekend at the Balbirnie House Hotel to attend our niece's wedding. This is a lovely country hotel in a beautiful setting and the interior has a lovely Victorian feel about it with oil paintings, fireplaces, nice lounges and a library bar. My only minor criticism was our bedroom and bathroom looked a little tired but was perfectly...

We had a fantastic meal in the Orangery, on arrival their had been a mix up with our booking the reception staff and manager soon sorted this out. The four course meal was fabulous a true experience from starter to desert, then coffees in the lounge. What a night.

This was our second visit to the Orangery, and as on the 1st visit, we were very, very impressed with all aspects of Balbirnie house. The approach to the Hotel is fabulous, a wonderful stately home in majestic grounds. You may feel that such a building would come with a formal or stuffy atmosphere but from the minute we arrived...

I personally feel your comments made to a local lady celebrating her 35th wedding anniversary were horrible!

I fully support dawn t on this and feel your response is condescending in the truest sense of the word, you appear to show an attitude of patronizing superiority when you state, " Balbirnie's Snr Manager in charge of Guest Services, has already gone a country mile to do everything possible to exceed what any logically thinking guest would consider as truly wonderful service"

How dare you? this part of your statement, "logically thinking guest" is an insult to dawn t and your lifeline in your chosen career, hospitality - GUEST SATISFACTION! What gives you the right to be this demeaning and make such an arrogant statement ?

When you book the Orangery at 8-00pm you expect the Orangery at 8-00pm and not pathetic excuses on one's special night saying you were busy. As dawn t specifically points out, you weren't busy/fully booked when she arranged their anniversary event.

Is it the fact dawn t is simply a local lass spending what could be classed as an inconsiderable amount of money in your establishment in comparison to the larger parties, that she is relegated to second/third class service whilst the larger groups receive a better class of service, I hesitate to use the words first class as it doesn't apply unless every guest is satisfied and, as this event experienced by dawn t shows, that was not the case.

This response is purely my personal opinion at the way you have handled, or mishandled this complaint. I hope you do host dawn t again, should she choose to visit, and get it right next time.

Lastly, ponder this, most people get married once. But after that they celebrate that event annually, perhaps you need to consider this as a more important, and consistent, alternative revenue stream than you currently seem to.
