My wife and me stayed 2 nights in the Griffons Bush Camp and it was a very unique and nice experience.
We were very happy to meet Rob, Thelma and Alois who take a lot of care of us. It was a very familiar experince we had and they always had time to explain interesting things to

A warm welcome - a camp as they used to be - rustic-comfortable and close to nature. Private and restful .We were helped with all our needs and found the camp a haven away from the normal commercially centered - electric lights and manicured lawns.

Really enjoyed our stay at Griffon's Nest (house rather than the bush camp). No electricity makes for a real back to nature experience, and we so enjoyed the beautiful location. Enjoyed seeing warthog, bushbuck, monkeys and baboons from the house and on our trips into Marakele Na

Thanks so much for your kind review. We're really pleased you managed to enjoy views of game from the house, and elephant, lion and rhino inside the rest of the Park. Yes, it is a real back to nature experience, (with only solar lights and gas stove/fridge)which is what its all about! We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

Reading all the positive reviews I was really disappointed with the outlay of the camp; only 2 of the 5 chalets have decks and are set apart from the rest with views of the bush. The other 3 chalets are almost on top of each other - no privacy or view of the bush. From our front

Good day Sonja, thank you for your review. While we endeavor to create a rustic experience, we do of course apologize for the rust that blocked the water pipe in your shower and as you know, we briefed Alois, who fixed it immediately while you were there. The showers are all enclosed by wooden latte walls, which is part of the character of the place, giving visitors a view of the stars and the sky. We accept that for some this is a bit too adventurous, but as you know, we are a basic bush camp, not a luxury lodge. The chalets with decks are necessary, as those chalets stand on sloping ground. Two of the chalets, including yours, stand on flat ground. We did check your chalet re maintenance, and provided an additional battery for the solar lights should you need it. We found everything else to be in good working order. The distance between the chalets is a little closer between yours and the one next to you, we agree, As this is the end of winter, with the trees and shrubs barren of leaves, this is emphasized, and we do understand your concerns. To this end, we are, as of now, erecting a wooden pole screen between the two chalets, which will add privacy, but not impair views of the forest alongside your chalet. As you stayed for the three days you booked, but left without paying the balance owing, or notifying us, it would be appreciated if you could pay the balance due, thanks.

Its hard to beat Griffons in my mind. I needed to get out of the city and go somewhere to relax and feel apart of the bush. You honestly couldn't ask for more, nor should you. The manager was amazingly helpful.
