Very nice hotel in the middle of nature. Nice food, welcoming personnel, quiet, comfortable bed and shower. Clean. 5km away from zarautz and the camino del norte, but we have reached it with a taxi from zarautz. In the morning, the owner has very kindly driven us back to zarautz at 6.40am. I would strongly suggest this solution for who... More

This is not an easy Hotel but well worth the effort. We used this as a stop over on our journey through Spain but would be quite happy to spend a few days here. From the outside the Hotel looks okay but inside it is really lovey. A mix of new and modern facilities and quirky antique items of interest.... More

We should have read the web info more carefully – this hotel is a good 3 miles from Getaria and stands alone in the countryside. Sat-nat had quite a struggle finding it. The welcome was very warm, and so was the room – no aircon ! Fear of biting flies versus heat insomnia presented an invidious choice. It’s a pretty... More

Despite the location which is difficult to find especially using sat nav the hotel is pleasant and reasonably priced. The food is good and well priced as is the wine. Would stay here again as a stop off point now that we know how to get there.

We had no reason to stay at this hotel apart from the fact that it was located at a relatively convenient point to break our journey to Bilbao (and in July, still had rooms available). The location itself is in a quiet (remote) countryside with nice views from the upper rooms (even if our room looked straight out onto an... More

We, like so many other travellers it seems, stayed at Azkue as a midway point on a journey between two places. In other words, we were there for no other reason than a comfortable overnight stay before we continued on our journey to Bilbao. And comfortable it was! It was raining and cool when we arrived late afternoon and remained... More

Small but cozy hotel in the mountains in Getaria about 10 minutes from the sea by car up and down the mountain, beautiful scenery for pictures and small fishery old port near the beach, The price of this hotel is a bit high, but everybody has to earn a living, the other side is the restaurant, very Spanish " comedor... We stayed in this wonderful family owned hotel in the countryside just a few kilometres from Getaria for one night in early September. We found the hotel on various sites and booked it through an internet website. As other reviews have mentioned getting there is a bit tricky. We missed the first exit in Zarauch (not surprising for us). We... More

We traveled from Bilbao to Basque shores and chose Azkue hotel as it was located above Getaria and near every other point of interest. It is pointless to repeat the other recommendations concerning this hotel. The owner is a very educated and nice person and we communicated using mixture of french, Spanish and other languages since he is not speaking... More
