This is my third stay here and it’s still remains a very good hotel. The bedroom was on the front with a nice view to the marina. This was the smallest room I have had . No separate shower. I was still happy with it. The toiletries offered are excellent. Quality cava served on arrival. Pool was great.

Dear Mrand MrsPoynton, The Hospes Amérigo's team would like to thank you for trusting us once again in your last visit to Alicante. We are delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay and the complimentary cava offer upon your arrival. As you mentioned being the hotel a former 16th centrury convent, our rooms have a different layout and not all of them have a separate shower and bathtub and always all our rooms offer the same quality toiletries. Again we would like to thank you for your very kind commnets and your stay. Looking forward to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at any of our nine Hospes Hotels in Spain. Stayed for 4 nights in November so the hotel was quieter than I imagine it would be during high season. We really enjoyed our stay. The reception staff were very welcoming & helpful, and were happy to pander to my attempts to converse in Spanish even if it meant they had to speak soooo slowly back to me! The room was spotless and a good size, with a nice selection of toiletries, teas, coffee, etc & some extras like a little pouch with spare masks & hand gel in it. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good. A well stocked buffet with a wide range to suit most people, from fruit, yoghurts & cereals, to breads, pastries & various spreads, to cold meats & cheeses. as well as a freshly made apple cake every morning. Good coffee & a range of fresh juices. Hot food such as eggs, waffles, etc can be ordered but we were happy with the buffet selection. And the small heated pool on the roof (which luckily was covered in November) added a nice extra to our stay. Robes & slippers in your room & big piles of fluffy towels pool-side to use. Location-wise it suited us perfectly for a city break. On a side street, close to lots of bars & restaurants, and just 2 mins walk from the prom. In summer, 5 minutes walk would see you on the beach. Very convenient for the airport bus too, less than 5 minutes walk from stop at Porta del Mar. Happy to stay in this hotel again, & happy to recommend it to a friend.

Our two night stay at this hotel was a birthday treat from my husband who had also arranged a spa experience of an aromatherapy massage and express facial in the hotel spa, Bodyna. Check in was smooth and included a glass of cava. Private on-site parking was arranged ahead of time. Upon check in, however, we were advised that we would not be able to take the car out of the parking area on Saturday because there was going to be filming on the street 'which had been in place for a long time'. Well if the hotel knew about the filming 'for a long time', then they were remiss in not telling us about it when we booked. The filming was a big incovenience for us. We always had to wait to leave or get into the hotel to coincide with the filming and the film crew were rude and aggressive. As for the spa experience - I can't even begin to say how absolutely poor it was. An inexperienced, untrained and incompetent young lady, absent mindedly stroking limbs. No questions were asked regarding scents or preferences; the room was cold and a cheap, disposable top sheet was used (in a 5 star hotel?!). Instead of feeling mellow and relaxed, I left angry and furious that my husband paid €150 for something so poor and almost laughably pathetic. The hotel room itself was pleasant but noisy due to the busy nightlife. The bathroom has no door other than an opaque glass screen around the toilet. The television was small but had many English channels. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. Chocolates and tea and coffee are available in the room - a nice touch. Bathrobes and slippers are provided along with the usual toiletries. The room had a safe big enough for a lap top and there was a mini bar. The location is great - close to the vibrant city centre and to the beach. We did not have the hotel breakfast as there are many, many cafes around with huge choices to suit everyone. On our first day there, we returned to the room for a rest at 3:00 p.m. – the room was still not made up. The cleaning staff arrived a few minutes later and we had to leave the room. All in all it's a nice hotel with private parking (€25 per night) which is hard to find in the city. We would stay again, but not during filming and would ask for a quiet room. I would not recommend the spa to anyone.

Dear Guest, We would like to thank you for the time that you have spent writing to us and take this opportunity to send you our sincere apologies for not offering you the experience that you expected from our hotel. As you mentioned there was a filming taking place in front of the hotel. The filming took place the 5th, 7th, 13th and 14th of November and we were informed November 4th of the schedule. Once we were aware of the inconveniences caused to access the hotel, we tried to inform all Guests that were staying in the hotel those days, always taking into account that we have an e-mail address or a contact available. Unfortunately we can not control or decide the opening and closure of the main streets, that is very disruptive for the day to day operations of the hotel and specially for our Guests. We have shared all your comments regarding our Bodyna Spa and your room with our Managers to follow up. Looking forward to have the pleasure of welcoming you again and have the opportunity to offer you the quality stay and experience that you expect from our hotel. Sincerely, Francisco Capó General Manager

We love Alicante city and have visited many times, usually staying at The Melia. As it was my husband's birthday we decided to have a change and stay at Hosped Amerigo upgrading to a better room for the occasion. The hotel is situated in a busy side street just off the Promenade and I was worried about traffic noise but even though our room overlooked the street it wasn't too bad at all and we slept well in the very comfy bed. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped; the bathroom is strangely located, it is there almost as soon as you step into the room so be careful if you are in the bath and someone opens the door!!!! Breakfast was adequate with pastries, fruit and the usual continental fayre and if you want eggs you can order them through the waiter. We found the restaurant service to be the only grumble in this otherwise lovely hotel. A few mornings we either weren't asked which hot drink we required or our eggs didn't arrive. Each time this happened and we asked where they'd got to, the staff were off and grumpy. The reception staff were lovely though. One more thing; there is a smallish roof terrace with around 18 sun loungers; we only went once and managed to get the last two beds, albeit in the shade but we observed towels on most of the beds for hours with no one on them and whilst we were there several people came looking for a bed but they were all "reserved." Considering there were so few in the first place I should imagine this could be very annoying. Overall, a great place to stay and very central.
