This hotel is 3 star but should be 4. I’ve been coming here for four years, it’s like receiving a hug from an old friend. The standard rooms are basic budget but if that’s your price point that’s ok. The premium and panorama rooms are fantastic. I always book the panorama room with wrap around terrace. Staff in the hotel are friendly and efficient, housekeeping is meticulous. The real benefit for me though is proximity to the beach. It’s right across the road and if you’re a beach lover, San Juan beach is perfect. Miles of golden sand, the glistening Mediterranean beckons you to take a dip. I have seen some poor reviews of the staff, this has never been my experience. If you’re looking for a short break or a two week holiday, this hotel is ideal. The tram , which run some into the centre of Alicante is right on the doorstep too. The hotel restaurant has fabulous food with an authentic Spanish feel. You can also have cafe style food in the bar. I will keep coming back here as I love it so much..you will too if you give it a try

Hotel's Favorite
This was is our first time in Alicante and we will definitely come back to the Almirante. The hotel is comfortable and not too big. It has a lovely pool area but is also right by the San Juan beach. We decided not to hire a car (even though there is tree parking) so used the public transport. The Costa Blanca tram is a 5min walk from the front door of the hotel which is really handy. If you get a 'mobilis' travel card your trips work out even cheaper than normal. The room was clean and spacious with a lovely pool facing balcony (nice to relax in after a day out) and we opted for a room with a fridge and coffee making facilities. We only ate in the hotel the first morning and the breakfast was excellent, but we like tapas and little cafes so ate out all the time, but the dining room looked great. We will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Hotel Almirante for a week in August. The hotel is classified as a 3 star but in truth it should be a 4 star. Our room was in the 5th Floor with a pool view and a side view of the sea. The room itself was a good size, comfy bed, good size bathroom with a Rain Shower. Also in the room was a safe and mini fridge which was replenished daily with bottled water. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard. We stayed on a B&B basis, the breakfast was good, plenty of selection for either a continental or hot breakfast. During the day you could avail of the cafeteria menu that was available until 23hrs. It had a good selection of sandwiches, burgers, tacos etc. We ate mist evenings in the main restaurant, the menu had a good variety of meat, fish and salad dishes. Overall the food was very tasty but at times it was overly salty. The portions were adequate and plentiful. If you want an auctioned packed holiday San Juan is not the area for you. However, if you want a quiet relaxing holiday with your other half or family then I recommend San Juan. There is an amazing beach for sunbathing and you can rent out a sun lounger for €5 per day. There are a number of sea front restaurants serving Spanish and European dishes at reasonable prices. The promenade is immaculately clean and is great for long walks or a leisurely cycle. My wife is Ceoliac and requires Gluten-Free options. Thank God for Google translator we were able to inform the waiting staff of ‘sin gluten’ and her dishes were prepared as requested which was a positive experience for us. Our only negative regarding dining at the Hotel Almirante was at times it was total chaos. On a number of nights we had to wait 30 plus minutes for a member of the waiting staff to take our order. In one occasion we had to go up to the restaurant reception to ask someone to take our order. The restaurant needs a manager to manage the staff as staff just seem so disorganised. In an organised restaurant you would have waiting staff assigned to a particular area instead of them trying to look after everyone. A special word of thanks to Jonathan, Carlos, George who were so helpful, friendly and attentive. Also, a special thanks to Marina and Diego on reception who were very helpful and informative. Almirante is a very clean and well presented Hotel. Both the bar area and outdoor dining areas are very comfortable to sit and have a meal or a drink. The pool and pool area are very clean with plenty of sun loungers. The pool itself is big enough to do a few lengths or just have a relaxing float. Hotel Almirante is very strict on Covid guidelines which makes guests feel safe. Overall, I would recommend Hotel Almirante and the San Juan area for a relaxing holiday. Thank you and we will definitely return in the future.

Nice sized hotel (about 70 rooms) with a beautiful pool and garden area and just off the fantastic San Juan beach. There are a few restaurants, a wine bar, a chemist and a supermarket within 5 minutes walk of the hotel, but it is a place you should go for relaxing rather than an action packed holiday. However, Alicante town is easily accessible by tram, the station is only 5 minutes walk away, it's cheap and you simply buy a ticket on the tram. Alicante, by the way, is a wonderful city. Beautiful buildings, shady squares, plenty of eating and drinking opportunities, good shopping and nice harbour area. Similar to Barcelona, just smaller. The hotel itself is a three star but, as an earlier reviewer mentions, I've stayed at worse 4 star hotels. We had a standard double room which came with a comfortable bed, large bathroom, huge balcony with a beautiful view over the pool and gardens. We could only find Spanish and French channels on our TV, but the free WiFi means you can watch stuff in your local language if you really need to. Breakfast was very good, there is a great bar and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our only issue was that the pool area doesn't open until 10.30 which seemed a little strange. You can linger over breakfast, go for a walk on the beach or sit in the gardens, however, so it's not really a problem. Plenty of sun loungers by the pool and a small pool bar which serves a limited selection of drinks and snacks. I have visited Spain several times but never Alicante and was very impressed. We will definitely be back and, if you are looking for a relaxing getaway or even a longer break, I can recommend the Almirante.

Want to go to the beach? well, this hotel is great for that! Being a 3 star as well as a beach hotel, I know what I should expect but Hotel Almirante surprised me positively. Location: a 1-minute walk to the beach. Prefer the pool? well, it's right in front. Want to go to the City center? I know there is a tram and bus lines close by but I did have my own car so I did not need them (by car, the City center is about a 15/20 minute drive away but there are many shops and restaurants close by for which you do not need a car). Staff is very polite and make you feel like a special guest (congrats to the reception and restaurant staff). The only thing that reveals that this is in fact a 3 star hotel are the rooms, furniture, coridoors and balcony railings. Nonetheless, the overall hotel atmosphere is cosy and we felt good here and slept like babies (maybe we were lucky with our neighbours :-)). The only negative point was that one of the guests that was there during our stay refused to use a mask in public areas during what seems to be a Covid-19 second wave. We saw that the staff quietly recommended that she put on a mask but she refused (the Hotel management should enforce this better). So, would I stay here again? the answer is very simply... YES !!!
