Second visit and only for one night. Still friendly and my room was fine apart from the shower which was ridiculously small. I'm not a beefy bloke but I had difficulty turning because it was no more than 18 inches square. Add to that the fact that the shower door wouldn't close properly and you can understand why the floor got soaked!

I wish I had read the reviews on here first! This hotel is clearly manipulating their score on booking.com, when you check closer most people have had a bad time but the overall score is boosted by a number of 9+ reviews that just don't sound realistic at all. By far the biggest problem with this hotel is that you can't close the doors without giving them a bit of a slam. It's possible to close them without making a ridiculous amount of noise but of course once you make it like this plenty of people are just going to slam them hard. We were woken up non-stop all night by doors slamming, some hard enough to actually make our room shake. I wasn't expecting anything amazing for the price, other comments about the decor & facilities are accurate but that didn't bother me. The noise is completely unbearable though, I genuinely think I would have got more sleep if I'd stayed on the streets for the night!

On checking in the first clue that this was not going to be great was when I was handed my room key on a big old fashioned chunky key ring. No touch cards here I thought. The public areas leading to the rooms are poorly lit and in need of a lick of paint. The carpet is threadbare. My room was decorated back in 1971 with anaglypta wallpaper and painted over once with a beige/ orange paint. The woodwork has been cleaned only once since then. The thin mattress was not comfortable and very low to the floor. Although the cleaner comes in daily it’s just a quick brush up and a bottle of bleach poured down the toilet. Location is close to all shops and restaurants but at night it feels a little shady, with unsavoury characters hanging around in doorways, this is no place to bring your kids or if you are seeking a romantic break forget it. It’s a workman’s digs with the emphasis on men. Although it’s cheap there are far better hotels nearby for the same money.

This place is extremely cheap and definitely requires a paint job, as per previous comments, there is a breakfast to be had however after our first visit we decided it was not for us,soggy cornflakes & a section of an orange, not exactly continental.!!.. the walls are very thin and you can here everything coming from the room next door, we had a young couple next door and you could hear everything.!! the staff on reception are friendly and there is a bar onsite if you fancy getting drunk to ensure you get a decent nights sleep, in short...you get what you play for

Rooms small but adequate, cleaned everyday and towels changed daily.. Free breakfast is fine for a few days. Hotel does need a bit of TLC but overall a pleasant stay and in a good location. Wifi is only available in public areas and there are no safes in the rooms.
