We are a family of three travelling with our 17 year old son and have stayed at the Gruner Hof previously due to its location in the Schwarzwald and away from the touristy areas.. The hotel is located just out of Zell am Harmersbach and has free parking. There is a playground for children and nature walks trails. A factory... More

I stayed at Grüner Hof in October 2013 when backpacking through Europe. I wanted a little out of the way hotel, amongst the beauty of the Black Forest, and that's exactly what I got. This is a lovely family run hotel, just outside of Zell am Harmersbach. The staff were great, helping me choose from the dinner menu and seeming... More

Having just returned from a weeks holiday with National Coach Holidays to Germany,I can honestly say,'Value for Money' the hotel was very nice, situated in a very picturesque spot, the staff was very very friendly, meals were very nice and presented well. The evening with the other guests was very satisfying and everyone was friendly, the only downside to the holiday was the... More

We have just returned from a trip with national holidays to the Blackforest. We stayed over night on the journey there in Leon France at the Ibis hotel which was clean and the continetal breakfast was good. The hotel however was on the edge of the town and having arrived an hour early there was nothing to do and no... More

My wife and I have just had 5 days at this hotel and it was fantastic, the staff are very friendly, some speak very good English so no communication problems, the meals were traditional German foods including breakfast, it was all very tasty and plenty of it, the evening meals were all 4 courses soup, a lovely salad, main course... National holidays coach tour. Overall a boring and long break. The coach trips out were at places that didn't hold much interest or history. If you like shopping then it's ok, but if you want culture and to have your brain engaged then forget it. A few places were ok though. The planned schedule wasn't kept to either and didn't... More

We spent a very pleasant week based at the Gruner Hof Hotel. The hotel is family run and has lots of character having been in the same family for several generations. Rooms are neat and tidy, most with a balcony, comfortable beds and an en suite bathroom (ours had a shower). There are no lifts so should you need a... More

Grüner Hof is a very quirky, family run pension. The decor could be seen as slightly dated, but it just adds to the charm and the traditional feel of the place. The basement has 4 "Kegeln" lanes (similar to bowling) and a bar serving a range of German beers. Outside there's a playground and a beer garden which is excellent... More
