First built in the thirteenth century, and carefully restored in 1994, this fortified village inhabited to this day, is just 28 km from Rimini and may also be accessed by arriving flights from Ancona or Bologna, both around one hour journey time by car. Situated on the boundary between Emilia Romagna and Marche Regions, Relais Palazzo Viviani has maintained its authentic atmosphere. Within the walls of Castello di Montegridolfo, Palazzo Viviani has six individually styled rooms, all beautifully furnished with antiques. Eight spacious suites and deluxe rooms are inside the main building of Palazzo Viviani. In the gardens, there's Casa del Pittore with seven standard rooms. A few steps away, a new structure Borgo degli Ulivi, offer an additional 39 rooms. Osteria dell' Accademia within the village walls features traditional local dishes, which may be enjoyed whilst sitting on the terrace overlooking the valley with the view of the Adriatic Coast. Throughout the year the village organises events to promote the traditions and culture of the area. With its multiple types of tastefully decorated rooms, indoor and outdoor dining options, conference and meeting facilities, Relais Palazzo Viviani is an ideal venue for high end meetings and incentives.

I have slept in this hotel only for one night, my boyfriend got it as a birthday surprise for me. We were warmly welcomed by the girl for the check in. The hotel is located in the beautiful castle of Montegridolfo. Very nicely decorated and clean our suite was in the tower overlooking all the hamlet and the surrounding hills. Our room was really impressive and it felt like being in a fairy tail. There is also a beautiful garden with a swimming pool overlooking the countryside which was very enjoyable. Because of the new Covid rules there was no buffet breakfast but we could still choose for homemade cakes and biscuits, croissants and tea and cappuccino. Would surely recommend this place, it’s unique in its charm.

The very small hamlet was absolutely like walking into a quiet fairytail. Unbelievable views of the surrounding vallies, exceedingly clean everywhere and full of restaurants to choose from during the summer season. We made sure the restaurant of our choice opened expressly for us. The people are very kind, friendly and accommodating. The hotel was a beautiful old castle with rooms in the old historic setting which was very appealing. There is no elevator and some of the rooms are high up with steep stairs! The room sizes vary even if they are assigned the same category. Remember to ask for the kind of bed you require or you are usually assigned 2 separate queen size. Having gone with the whole family of 7 siblings and partners we managed to view many other rooms and unfortunately the comment was the same for us all: fabulous and very different rooms but the bathrooms are really pretty bad. Absolute cleanliness reigns but the faucets are slow to give water and water trickles instead of coming down in a flow; the tiles are broken or chipped in various places and give a bad impression of abandonment and the bath tubs with curtain ought to be changed and replaced with proper showers. Most of the rooms have vey little light both from the lamps and the tiny windows, according to the position of the rooms which, if under the roof are inadequate and the ceilings very low, causing various bumps to the head and shoulders. Furthermore, there is a lovely swimming pool which we could not use, regardless of the fantastic weather because it han't been cleaned. It was a let down.

The rooms were well sized and comfortably furnished in a quiet surround. We dined within the 'village' during our stay as well as using the local bar. A great dining and drinks experience however it took a lot of effort walking up and down those steep driveways and walkways. Was somewhat disappointed with the available breakfast and missed one day because the reward of being fed was not worth the steep climb.

Dined here with a group of business associates and found to my horror that almost the entire menu for our meal was seafood, which I don't eat. However, this didn't even remotely faze the staff who provided a superb selection of alternatives. In fact I think my fillet steak was the envy of the rest of our table to be honest. Wonderful location and atmosphere too. Highly recommended.

In a so called Palazzo with 4 stars and a price of €137 per night, we were expecting a cleaner and more modern "suite" and a WiFi working also in the room and not only at the reception! I share the view of other guests about the very old bathroom. The most ennoying was to be waken up around 7:30 by employees talking wery loud in the reception area without any care for sleeping guests! The arrival by car is very difficult and straight, so it would be better to be picked up at the parking with the electric buggy. The breakfast was the only OK point for this budget.
