I've been to anti-resort 4x now in the past 2 years and I can say it is my favorite place to visit when I am in El Salvador. It feels like home and the whole staff feels like family! After visiting for the first time in 2021 I knew I had to host a retreat there. So far I have successfully hosted 2 surf and yoga retreats here! I teach yoga online and internationally and Mizata is a special and stunning place to enjoy for myself and to bring guests. The views, the rooms, the hospitality and the fact that it is very remote. You feel truly connected with nature and are able to disconnect from life. I trust the staff wholeheartedly and know that myself and my retreat guests will always be taken care of here. I also wanted to note that the retreat process through antiresort has been a pleasure. Every thing I need is attended to and my guests feel extra special ALWAYS! I usually work with Shon or Pia and they are both very kind and helpful. For my most recent retreat I worked with Taty and she helped me make the process even more seamless. She became friends with everyone on our retreat, was extremely professional and made sure we always had what we needed. The front desk staff especially Daniel make every day wonderful and the kitchen staff are truly the most kind. I can't say enough wonderful things about it here; truly a dream destination. Favorite things to note, the yoga shala which is stunning and I've never practiced in anything like it. The FOOOOD; oh my gosh breakfasts (banana oat pancakes are fantastic, the mahi mahi..basically everything on the menu is great). THE PEOPLE; this is #1!! I have lifelong friends from antiresort. 10/10 for visiting and also for hosting retreats. I'll be back each year for sure.

I cannot say enough AMAZING things about Mizata. I assure you the experience here exceeds my ability to describe it, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I used the chat box on the website to initiate communication and within minutes was speaking directly to Dianna to book our vacation. My girlfriend and I were delighted with her knowledge and guidance. She made the booking process simple and provided great recommendations along the way. We booked the surfers package for me and added a non-surfer with a meal plan for my girlfriend. We chose a treehouse for our week-long stay. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed The SanSalvador airport is brand new, efficient, and impressive. While in El Salvador, communication with the hotel was made simple through WhatsApp. They guided us right to our driver who was waiting for us at the airport. After a comfy hour and a half ride and we arrived at Mizata. It was love at first site. The grounds were inviting and the front desk personnel was informative and personable. We arrived early in the day so our room was understandably not ready. They put our luggage securely away and gave us a tour of the property. The vibe throughout the entire place is uplifting, to say the least. Seconds into the tour I was staring at the most amazing right-hand point break I had ever seen in real life. More on that later in the review. We were shown around all the stunning guest areas and then head over to Nawi Beach House. Nawi is the restaurant, bar, and one of the many pools on the property. Also home to a cool outdoor gym, private beach cabanas, and horseback riding. Great music keeps the energy level up and I cannot say enough about the food. There was not a bad item on the very extensive organic menu. The treehouse itself was straight out of a fairytale. The woodwork is dreamy and mixed with concrete accents creating a very in-touch-with-nature feel(but with AC and sliding glass doors). A small closet and stocked mini fridge came in handy. The private outdoor shower with hot water was amazing. And then there was the view. You can see the waves from the balcony, from the bed, from the sink, and even while taking a shower. For the surfers: The Quiver of Lost surfboards is the best I have ever seen in a rental fleet. Most of them are in good shape. That being said, I would bring a favorite go-to board just in case they don't have your personal taste or the board you want happens to be spoken for. The main Mizata right-hand point break was crazy fun. Most of the week was just overhead high and like a machine. It does get dangerous if it gets larger as the wave ends near some large cliffs. The great news is that when the swell was too large for Mizata they have vans to take you to other breaks. The local surf instructor, Erick, was amazing and always gave great pointers on where and when to surf. He was also full of great vibes and super fun to watch the surf. There is an A-Frame type break right in front of Nawi that works mid to high tide. I had some super fun left and right-hand sessions there. The beach break is a short walk to the West and there is even a slab right-hander at the far end of the beach for the experienced surfers on the right swell. All in all the vibe in the water was great and even with small crowds, there were plenty of waves to be ridden by all. I recommend a treehouse as I was able to watch the waves easily and head out for quite a few solo surf sessions when the wind would drop. For the non-surfers: The place has enough on-property to keep you happy but there are plenty of excursions to ponder. The massages were great and we also booked a volcano hike that I cannot recommend enough. This is a mild hike with very rewarding views at the top. We also went to El Tunco "Surf City" for a day which had great shopping, surf shops, food, and souvenirs. An unquestionable 5-star experience by Mizata. We are already discussing our visit back...

My boyfriend and I had the best vacation ever at Mizata! We stayed in one of the treehouses, it was clean, comfortable and felt like we were immersed in nature. The views from the balcony were incredible. We enjoyed room service while watching the waves each morning - the food and drinks from Nawi were top notch. I surf at a very beginner level so I did not surf on this trip, but my boyfriend (who is a very strong surfer) had some of the best surf sessions of his life at Mizata! We also hiked the Santa Ana Volcano, which I would highly recommend checking out. Looking at the blue crater lake at the top of the volcano while enjoying some chocolate-covered bananas made for a great memory! The staff helped us coordinate transportation to and from the airport, the volcano hike, surfing at Sunzal, and to El Tunco for some souvenir shopping. Both the hotel and restaurant staff went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful to have found this place! We will absolutely return to Mizata.

Mizata is the perfect place to heal, rest, connect and restore!! I spent two weeks here hosting a women’s retreat and felt like I was home. The staff are friendly and helpful- always going the extra mile to accommodate needs. The rooms and resort grounds are beautiful and clean! I’ll be sure to come back to visit.

Wouldn’t stay again. The staff is really nice and the accommodations are nice and clean. Now for the negative….. if this is a surf trip, you’re better off staying in El Tunco or LaLibertad. Mizata does not hold swell over 4 ft. It’s also not for inexperienced surfers. Nawi Beach House blasts raunchy music with the bass all the way up ALL DAMN DAY. I don’t want to hear “Wet Ass Pussy” blasting while eating lunch. Taking a nap in the treehouses is almost impossible due to the music and construction going on all day every day. Paying almost $5,000 for the treehouse for the week is Wayyyy overpriced, especially with non-stop construction. They nickel and dime you for everything. They want to charge $70 per person to go to the waterfall in a vehicle with no air conditioning. We got out and walked back to the hotel. They charge U.S. prices for everything. Hope this helps.

I traveled to El Salvador solo for a yoga and surfing retreat at Mizata and it was AMAZING. What a truly beautiful location. The yoga shala on the beach was our workshop every day and the waves and beautiful black sand beach was lovely for surfing lessons. Transportation to and from the airport was easy, about and hour and a half drive. The food from Nawi Beach House on the property was phenomenal - a large menu and everything was delicious. Massages and horseback riding are also available. I had a small but very cozy bungalow with A/C and a great bed, and I felt like I was nestled in the rainforest. Next time, I'm booking one of the new treehouses there! The sunsets from up there would be even better. This is a truly relaxing, restorative property with attentive staff who make everything easy and special. I highly recommend Mizata and Nawi Beach House for your vacation or an organized retreat.

Antiresort in Mizata, El Salvador is a great place to stay. It's a beautiful place, right on the beach, with really nice rooms, different types (Tree House, bungalow) and a pretty good restaurant with healthy options. The staff is kind, thoughtful, provides great service when you need it. The 4 stars (and not 5 stars) are given because there are some things to improve, some of which are easier than others. I think the easy one to change is the wood lounge chairs by the pool. They are hard to sit on, there is no cushion to help with the hard wood. This is a very nice resort, and comfy pool loungers are expected, not a nice to have. There needs to be more chairs for the guests by the pool. The cabanas were there too, but not enough for everyone at the hotel. You need more single loungers by the pool to accommodate everyone. You also should maybe consider using beach/poo towels for resort guests, instead of the very pretty blankets you're using now. Towels are easier to soak up water and the light blankets are lovely, but not the right thing. We had an issue in our tree house where there was no hot water 2 nights in a row. We had someone come the 1st night, fixed it for just one shower, and the other person had a cold shower. Then we shower the 2nd night, and again only cold water. We had to tell the manager to send someone again, and it was finally fixed. I'd say that checking that hot water is working in rooms is needed so that guests get the basic necessities. Again, something that could be improved very easily since the staff is great at the resort. Over time, it may be useful to build a shower in the spa. I think many of us were hoping to use the spa for a hot shower when we didn't have hot water in our room. And there was no shower there. It would be a nice addition that many spas have.

. I was greeted by Rocco who picked me up from the airport bright and early. I did the adventure experience and had so much fun at our private volcano & waterfall hike then massage and surf lessons. For anyone looking for a great getaway to call a place home for a few days, I highly recommend. The entire staff is very kind, you always feel very safe, and the activities / food at the resort are amazing. Not to mention the jungle gym and yoga platform is accessible with Nawi Beach House I went solo and felt very comfortable and relaxed. I can not wait to come back!!
