The place was freezing cold and even the room with a fire wasn't warm enough on such a cold day. We were there by 12.30 but the soup was finished and then it took almost an hour for them to serve up sandwiches despite the fact there weren't many people dining! We certainly won't return.

Stayed here this past weekend with my husband, my Labrador and my In-Laws. Had a great time. Totally dog friendly which is always a plus for me. The bar staff were more than helpful. The room was pleasant and had plenty of room and a lovely view over the village. The bar meal menu was varied and the meals more...

This is a traditional dales pub. It's beautiful inside. Definitely set out as pubs used to be. We loved the roaring fire. The meals were hearty traditional pub meals which we all enjoyed. The room we stayed in was a good sized family room with a four poster bed. It was very clean. The beds were comfortable and the room...

We decided to review here when we came to visit our daughter. It is positioned well adjacent to the village green. As we entered we were greeted with lovely old panelled walls. There is a lovely big open log fire in the bar area too. The staff are pleasant and regaled stories of the 'Ghosts' in the pub. It has...

Simple menu, good portion (really nice homemade pie). Honest countryside pub, friendly staff and a decent pint of Black Sheep. Only a few miles away from Hawes and Wensleydale Creamery. Nice big coal fire which is very welcome in the winter.

We stayed here just one night (Oct 2016) in a large room with antique furniture and a very comfortable bed. Clean sheets and towels. Room rate was very good. Food was also good (cooked to order), with an extensive menu. Also reasonably priced. Others have commented about the carpets. Yes, they could do with some TLC but you have to...

Visited for lunch last week during half term. Lovely little pub in the Yorkshire Dales. Delicious food with good choice, and all homemade. Priced competitively (not cheap but not too expensive). We were seated in the snug which was lovely. The kids played on the zip wire in the park over the road and said hello to the horse in...

I stayed at the hotel purely because it was in a convenient location. Booking was a strange experience. I called in the afternoon, but they asked me to call back in the morning after 12 midday (?). When we arrived the staff were friendly but there was always a feeling that whatever we asked for that we were inconveniencing them....

Well worn Establishment. Only visited the bar for a drink and a meal. The staff at 6pm refuse rudely to serve drinks for nearly 20 mins as the boss was on the bar girls case to check the till. Meals ordered for six were then 35 mins late. The turnip was raw the carrots were under cooked and the steak...
