This hotel is in a charming little village. We stayed one night in room 1 which just about housed a double bed which was surrounded by one of those 1970s wardrobes with high level wall units over the bed head, all very brown. The en suite was narrow but adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was... More

Two of us chose this pub for our evening meal after a hard days walking. Atmosphere inside is good with a choice of eating corners and the food was excellent. Lamb Kleftiko was chosen by me after assurance it as cooked in-house and it was delicious and mt cousin chose fish and chips which was also obviously freshly cooked and... More

We booked this hotel for the location and paid £70 for one night stay in a twin room. Tea and coffee facilities and complimentary toiletries included. Decent size bathroom with a very good electric shower. The beds were very very comfortable and we slept 11 hours solid! We had evening meal in the bar and booking is advisable. We both... More

We stayed in room 9 of the George Hotel for 2 nights because friends of ours were getting married in Hayfield. The pictures of the hotel on this site don't do it justice. I wish we had thought to take photos of our room. About half the hotel was fully refurbished last October. Our room was beautifully done, modern and... More

Stayed here for two nights on the 17th & 18th of June with my partner and loved it, really welcoming staff and the food & drink was excellent. The location is perfect for Kinder Scout & the village pubs are very nice. Our room (room 6) had loads of character. We plan to go back some time in the future... More

Bar service was fine. Food wasn't that great. Chicken wings were cold and rubbery it looked like the sour cream had gone off. Steak and chips were nice, (shouldn't go wrong with this!) Nice atmosphere.

We stayed here the night before we walked Kinder Scout. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The pub was busy and seemed full of locals. The bedroom was clean and the ensuite had a good shower. The mattress wasn't to our liking as it was hard and a bit lumpy. Unfortunately there is no sound insulation and so you can... More

I stayed at Kinder Lodge across the street and was recommended this place for dinner as cheap, fast and tasty food. Neither was it cheap, nor fast or tasty. There were a few locals, I guess I must have made a wrong choice? We order Lamb Punjabi, Broccoli Pasta Bake, Prawns in Garlic & Onion Rings. Not one item was... More

We stayed here after walking over kinder scout. We just wanted a nice friendly village pub which we got. The village is lovely, fed the ducks in the secret garden and there's also a calico walk. We didn't do this. The pubs very friendly and we also ate here and the food was really nice. It's very busy so you... More
