After a quick overview of the lodge, meals, and facilities, we were led up a steep (at that altitude it all feels steep) path to our gorgeous room, where we were greeted by a young and inquisitive llama. What a way to begin. The view was sensational, the room small but very well appointed and I loved the loft (which...

The Black sheep is the original eco-lodge in Ecuador so we had to include it in our itinerary while touring Ecuador researching for my sustainable development company. From composting toilets, to recycling to yoga, to the the cozy fireplaces, to the wonderful vegetarian meals, this place checks all the boxes. Highly recommend the (long) hike from Quilitoa back to the...

Stayed 2 nights with friends while hiking the Quilotoa loop, from Isinlivi and then on to Quilotoa. Great place. Clean rooms, fantastic wood-burning stoves (February can be a little cold and rainy), and excellent group meals. Really enjoyed sitting down to dinner with travelers from all over the world each night and hearing their stories. Food was amazing- really loved...

I had an amazing time at the Black Sheep Inn. Seriously: I loved every single thing about it. I arranged transportation from Banos to this famous eco lodge in the Andes, which was recommended by an adventurous friend of mine. From the minute I got there, I felt like I had found nirvana: from the amazing grounds, eco-friendly environment, totally...

Many people "do" the Quilotoa loop by hiking from one town to the next, but when our friend recommended we consider staying at Black Sheep Inn and doing day hikes instead we decided to check it out. In our minds, we made the right choice. We spent four nights in the dorm, which is an A-frame with three floors (10...

This is one of those times I wish TripAdvisor had "Good" rating -- something between "Very Good" and "Average" as neither of these standard ratings reflect my experience. Before you book here, be sure you understand what this place is. Despite its price it's not a high end, fancy resort. It's a very down-to-earth, rustic, nature-conscious place that provides a...

We loved Black Sheep Inn! We stayed 2 nights and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and cares about the environment. Edmundo was super helpful in all facets of the stay, from booking and great directions to the Inn to activity suggestions and even helped us deal with a business phone call when our phone service did...

I stayed at BSI for five days in January 2017 and really enjoyed it. Horseback riding, massage, sauna, yoga, hiking, day trip to Quilotoa. Wonderful dinners with interesting people, all in a gorgeous setting
