Jose, his wife (Patricia?) and daughter Andrea were all very nice and helpful. They cooked us a deliciously filling dinner and breakfast. There was coffee and tea in between meal times. Hammocks outside your room with views! The room was adequate and comfortable plus hot showers. We stayed here on night 2 of our Quilotoa hike. Day 3 we rented horses through Jose last minute to take us to Quilotoa Lake. Umberto our pleasant local guide arrived with his well behaved and rock steady horses and took us through the beautiful country side and canyons. It was perfect.
This is a huge hostel in the center of town with beautiful and clean rooms. The food is absolutely fantastic, and the views from the dining room are superb. They offer a cheap boxed lunch for those looking for food to take on the trail and have a variety of inexpensive drinks for purchase. They have an awesome billiards room with foosball, pool, and a variety of other games, making it easy to meet other travelers.
We arrived mid afternoon from day 2 of the loop. Such a lovely little place set high on the hill. Each room has its own hammocks out on the balcony so we spent the arvo out in the hammocks, recharging in the afternoon sun. The food was great, basic & filing and after dinner a map is offered with route suggestions for day 3 of the hike up to Quilotoa Lake. Overall a wonderful friendly experience & great value for money.
This hostal has everything. Super kind staff, great location and very warm blankets because it gets chilly at nights. Also hammocks where you can relax after hiking! Loved it! The prices are also very travellers-friendly. I paid 15$ for a dorm, big dinner and breakfast included. My top recommendation!
This hostal is a lovely surprise in a beautiful setting. It is clearly popular with backpackers & hikers. All guests eat dinner together at long tables in a common dining room. I enjoyed hearing a range of languages & meeting new people. I came as part of a traveling Spanish language program. We held classes in the "reading room" which has a view of mountains. My room was small, but comfortable, with a private bath & hot water. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hostal. All the meals were delicious. The staff readily provided me with vegetarian alternatives, some of which made the meat eaters envious. I especially loved the soups.
