The Cloud Forest Hostal in Chugchilan is best value. We offer nice rooms. The price is reasonable (15 USD each in a double room or dorm, 20 USD for a single room), and includes a big breakfast and a great dinner. We also offer vegetarian, vegan or gluten - free options. If you're an early riser or have to catch the bus early in the morning, we give you breakfast to go. We also offer lunch box for just 3 USD Hot water is provided in all rooms. Our hostal is the best point to start hiking to Quilotoa. We have maps and all the info that you need for the traks to Isinlivi and Quilotoa and provide guides for hiking or horseback riding, in case you need one. WiFi is included as well as the games room with billiard, table tennis and football table.
This hostal is incredible! The rooms are spacious and warm, with hot water. We arrived soaking wet after a rain storm and they helped us with drying our clothes by a wood burning heater. There is also a game room with pool, ping pong, and foosball which was fun to enjoy with the other guests. The price is a very affordable $15/night per person (if you book directly) which includes a lovely dinner and breakfast (vegetarian options available!). There is also a small store attached to the hostal with snacks and drinks for sale, including cheese from the local cheese factory. You can order to go lunches as well to take with you on your walk. And to top it all off, the owner of this hostal is the one who MADE the trails from Isinlivi to Chuhchilan and from Chugchilan to Quilotoa. That is why you will see his advertising along the path. And he works continually to maintain them. Highly recommend this hostal!

We stayed here after a really long hike to Chugchilan. The staff is super friendly, cares about everything you need. We used the laundry service, which was super fast and cheap. They have a new building with nice new rooms and a new SPA including Sauna and Turkish Spa. We enjoyed that a lot after the hike. Dinner and breakfast is included, the food is cooked by the owner itself. They guided us also for the last step to Quilotoa. I recommend this place without any hesitation.

The hostel has confortable rooms with hammocks ont he balcony and a view on the mountains. The is a big commun room to chill before dinner. The dinner was great and specific diet/ allergies were taken in consideration. The breakfast is really complete and tasty ! A big plate of fruits , scrambled eggs with cheese , yogourt and muesli, plus 2 pancakes , what more can you ask ? The staff is really helpful and they made us sandwiches for only 1$ Plus , they have a convenience store at the reception so we could buy snacks and wine for a cheap price. I definitely recommend if you are doing the quilotoa loop !

This is a huge hostel in the center of town with beautiful and clean rooms. The food is absolutely fantastic, and the views from the dining room are superb. They offer a cheap boxed lunch for those looking for food to take on the trail and have a variety of inexpensive drinks for purchase. They have an awesome billiards room with foosball, pool, and a variety of other games, making it easy to meet other travelers.

Very nice hostal with friendly and helpful owners! They could answer every question, helped with hiking routes, stomach problems and so on.. we had a room with a chimney because it was quite cold - so we could chill out in the cozy warm room after hiking.. the food was delicious and we always got big portions:) we stayed for three nights.
Gracias por todo!

Patricia and Jose look after everyone, especially tired hikers. If you've hiked the Quilotoa Loop, you will have seen their excellent red & yellow trail signs along the way. Jose knows all the trail routes and quirks, and is happy to provide recommendations based on weather and trail conditions. The location is easy, and it's a large facility with plenty of rooms, including a games room.

We arrived mid afternoon from day 2 of the loop. Such a lovely little place set high on the hill. Each room has its own hammocks out on the balcony so we spent the arvo out in the hammocks, recharging in the afternoon sun. The food was great, basic & filing and after dinner a map is offered with route suggestions for day 3 of the hike up to Quilotoa Lake. Overall a wonderful friendly experience & great value for money.

We loved Cloud Forest! Very hot showers, welcoming and helpful owners, good food with veggie options, and nice spotless room. They also did a ton of work to mark the trail with signs and colored markers. We so much appreciated this and didn't get lost when hiking between Sigchos and Quilatoa thanks to their signs. I would highly recommend this place for the price!
