My husband and I stayed with Tom and Lynn for 3 nights. It's an amazing place, very clean and very quiet and the Matthews are not only the best hosts but also the best guides of Sonora. They will treat you like closest friends and will introduce you to the beauties of Banamichi and Sonora region. Go enjoy and relax...

How nice, now they have pool! They still have a gated yard to park your car in, but what a nice pool area with cooking-bbq area next to it. Rooms are great as always and wonderful hospitality from Lynn and Tom. Nice food too. If you are looking for a place to stop on the Rio Sonora stop here, you...

This hotel is a secure quiet oasis in the middle of rural Sonora. All rooms are spacious and contain luxurious bath. A bonus, this hotel provides delicious dinners and breakfast in a beaustiful dining area. The grounds are beautifully done and rooms tastefully decorated with a staff that makes you feel like family. Service is was above the mark and food ordered to your liking. Its location is perfectly located in the midst of a quaint little Mexican town. Can't wait to return for another visit.

My wife and I recently took a trip down the Rio Sonora with friends to celebrate New Years and stayed at the Hotel Los Arcos for three nights. The hotel was wonderful, spotlessly clean, and charming. Our hosts, Tom and Lynn, were also most welcoming and charming as well. We had New Year's dinner at the hotel prepared by their...

The perfect hotel; clean, comfortable with beautiful inner courtyard full of beautiful plants and a fireplace to sit around. Notably, the hotel's staff are thorough and 'cheerful' meaning the owner's management is clearly humane. The owner's were present on the property and were very pleasant and hospitable. Large back-yard space with pool; the only place to smoke on the property....

As we drove south from the border crossing at Naco the country at first seemed familiar, much like southern Arizona, but as we drove into the valley of the Rio Sonora we found ourselves in a very different landscape. Small farms and rural villages spread out along the valley and the hills were covered in Organ Pipe Cacti. Arriving in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A little paradise on the Rio Sonora, Hotel Los Arcos de Sonora is the perfect setting to experience the romantic charm of old Mexico. Eleven individually decorated rooms offer luxurious pillow top beds, elegant bedding, air conditioning/heat, ceiling fans and spacious private bathrooms. Ten of the eleven rooms face the intimate interior courtyard filled with lush gardens and the soothing sounds of cascading water. The traditional Mexican style wood burning fireplace under the ramada takes the chill off on cool days and nights. View the pueblo and the surrounding mountains from the second floor terraza and gaze at the star filled sky at night. Motorcyclists are welcome here. Both Tom and Lynn ride and provide daily routes of the most exciting roads in Sonora. Tom would be delighted to ride along and be your personal guide. Laundry service is also available. Our staff will wash, dry, neatly fold your cloths and return them to your room the same day. If you want to bring a group, we have special room rates, equipment for group presentations and our very special Mexican chef, prepares traditional Sonoran cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Adjacent to the hotel we have created a special place for parties complete with seating, an adobe oven for pizza, and an acedor (grill) for cooking carne asada. This is an area that offers wonderful opportunities for adventure, exploring and visiting the past. All along the Rio Sonora are 17 century Spanish churches, hot and warm springs, hiking, horseback riding, traditional Sonoran foods, hunting ranches, friendly people, artisans creating beautiful mesquite furniture, women making tortillas and traditional Mexican cookies and much much more. Our special brand of Sonoran hospitality welcomes every visitor and will bring you back again and again. We invite you to visit our tranquil and safe community and come to know the magic of the Rio Sonora Valley. Tom and Lynn Matthews own and operate Hotel Los Arcos and live full time in Banamichi to ensure you have the perfect stay. ... more   less
