Our suite was colorful, roomy and chockablock with art and craft from around the world; the hotel's center courtyard is just as visually spectacular. We enjoyed a sunset on the roof deck -- don't miss it when you visit. Breakfasts are hot and delicious and could not be more convenient; we did not get to try the famous flan, sadly. The hotel's location right on the square puts you in the heart of the action: we saw a wedding, a Quinceanera photo shoot and a dance performance during our visit. Don't miss the wonderful historical murals in the municipal hall (right across the square). Note to fellow motorcyclists: if there's room, you might be able to park your bike within the walls just off the courtyard. Ask in advance.

If you want to feel spoiled, go to Cancun or some other resort. If you want to feel totally satisfied and happy to be alive, go to La Posada. A visit to La Posada is always guaranteed to lower my blood pressure and heart rate.

La Posada del Rio Sonora is a delightful & colorful hotel conveniently located on the town square in Banamichi, Sonora. Each of their 11 rooms is decorated in a unique way. The common areas are colorful & covered with beautiful & sometimes whimsical art. We ate several breakfasts & dinners there. The food & service was fantastic. The property manager, Carmen, was very responsive to everyone’s needs. Our stay at La Posada was a really positive & pleasant experience.

This place is a magical, peaceful, beautiful, divinely decorated, perfectly located hide-away only 4 hours from Tucson (via Cucurpe) or 5 hours via Naco. I feel so rejuvenated after I stay here and the personnel treat you like an honored family member. All the food is home-cooked on the premises and breakfast is free. Dinner is a variety of local cuisines and you can request freshly squeezed lime margaritas on the upstairs patio. This is the perfect romantic get away, each room is differently decorated and has its own personal touch. If you come once, you will come again and again.

Beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing part of Mexico. The room was immaculate. The best part however was the staff. Carmen (bilingual) made sure everything was perfect and had great suggestions for things to do. Luz MarÃa cooks the best food. Always tough to choose what to eat! If you have the opportunity to take a tour with Steban make sure to go. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and even found us a place to buy bacanora (another must try!).

Such a lovely and peaceful stay in Banamichi. Carmen and her crew at the hotel were incredibly helpful: from setting up a tour, to allowing our dog, to providing some delicious fare in the kitchen. You definitely should try the chiltepin de flan for dessert. The art, color, and design of the hotel itself is also worth the trip. Also, ask for Stevan if you want to tour any of the local towns or destinations. He was great, too!

We loved our trip to La Posada Del RÃo Sonora. It is like stepping back in time to a quieter and more peaceful era in old Mexico. Carmen and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and strive to see to your every need. Providing amazing meals for breakfast and dinner, the Flan de Chiltepin and the Caldo de Queso soup are Vale la Peña of getting to Banámichi alone. There are hot springs to visit nearby that are an adventure to get to but worth it and the scenic drive south from the border through La Ruta del RÃo Sonora is beautiful. We arrived in Tucson via plane and rented a car for our journey and had no problem crossing the border in Naco just outside of Bisbee which makes for a nice lunch spot along the way. La Posada Del Rio Sonora make for a wonderful weekend trip or even longer if you really want to unplug.

we are repeat customers because we love the Posada, staff is super friendly, they serve delicious food and we get great rest, also beautiful scenery all around.The rooms are all nicely decorated, colorful, lots of plants around. There is also a beautiful roof top terrace overlooking the town and countryside. The hotel is right on the little town plaza.

La Posada del RÃo Sonora is the perfect place to find tranquility in Banámichi. From the colorful and clean rooms to the breezy rooftop deck, you will find a pleasant place to relax and enjoy your visit. Hotel staff are lovely and attentive to guests’ needs. This was our second stay here and we enjoyed it just as much as the first!

This hotel is an event in its self. There is not a lot to do in town, but staying here is relaxing and a good place to kick back and slow down. If you wanted a get away spot for a group conference of family this would be a good place. The staff are super helpful. The ladies in the kitchen don't speak much English but sure know how to accommodate you in any regards. Carmen is the manager and couldn't do better.
