La Bifora e la Lune is a treasure in the small town of Santo Stefano di Sessanio. Mirela and Marco were the perfect hosts, caring, thorough, and patient enough to speak Italian with me. When I wasn't feeling well, Mirela invited me in for tea and cookies. Knowing the next bed and breakfast we were staying at was hard to find, she arranged for us to call our next host when we were in the town square so he could guide us. Marco invited us in for wine and antipasti and more talk in Italian. We felt truly comfortable and welcome. The room itself was modern and comfortable. The intimacy and care was such a nice change from hotels; plus we got to know some other guests which rarely happens at hotels. We loved the room, the hosts, the location, and the breakfast. If we go back to Abruzzo, we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Refreshing down to earth experience in contrast to the standard clinical atmosphere offered in most hotels. Mirrela, the proprietor, is the essence of charm, hospitality and generosity with no hint of commercial overtones. Staying here you are treated like a family member mothered by Mirrela. To augment the wonderful experience of visiting this amazing area you must stay at this haven of peace and tranquility

An authentic experience, in a xv century building with all comforts and high quality finishings. Rooms have independent access from the palazzo's courtyard. All is quiet at night, granting an excellent night sleep in a very comfortable bed. In the morning, breakfast awaits in what was probably the main room of the palazzo, with astounding views on the valley. Mirella's breakfast was delicious and contributed to the overall homely feeling of our stay. All food was home made, and th selection of fruit, cured meet, vegetable and cheeses local. Enchanting.

If you want to live with an Italian family, stay with Mirela. If you want to have quiet time and not be bothered, stay with Mirela. Either way works. If you want to have samples of home made jam at breakfast, stay with Mirela. If you want to learn to cook, talk to her mother. I have had few grander hostings for a week than I have had at Bifora. Great honor to the family. To cap it off, I got poetry at the kitchen table for leftover (we had cooking class the night before) dinner as dessert. And then there was an hour of argument about the meaning of the poetry. Home. Hats off. This i a house full of love.

We spent 3 nights here with two friends while walking in Gran Sasso last week. Lovely atmospheric old village and this is a very impressive house. Mirella is lovely - no other word will do - and breakfast in her very impressive dining room with views to die for was quite a spread. Nearly gave this 5 stars but the boiler wasn't quite up to the task of delivering hot water to our room which was last in line. In all other respects very comfortable and well-equipped accommodation with free no-fuss wifi to boot.
