We booked two nights camping at Somabula and a few day visitors joined us on Saturday as well. The place has a lovely atmosphere, the campsites are spacious, clean and have private ablutions. The walks are easy and cater for all ages and levels of fitness. We can recommend this for a day visit or weekend stay. The only negative...

We went to Somabula with a big group of friends. Some were in the Wagons, but we were lucky enough to stay in Pumba lodge. The Reserve itself is wonderfully peaceful and a walk around is very relaxing. Our lodge was so perfect for a short stay. The room was clean and bathroom fairly new and very clean. The outside...

Somabula Nature Reserve may be used for day visits, camping or stays in self catering chalets. We arrived at OR Tambo early one morning and were leaving that evening on a flight back to Australia. Hence, decided on a day of fresh air and sunshine. Hired a car. Great decision. Need a phone to get the entry code for the...

We had a lovely camping weekend with friends at Somabula. The camp sites is well laid out and reasonably shaded. Each camp site has a boma with a fireplace (no roof). Our camp site had a private bathroom, which was a real treat. Most of the camp sites are big enough for more than one tent, caravan or trailer which...

This time we rented two chalets, one for ourselves and one for my partner's parents. On the first morning my in law's were lucky enough to see the giraffes walk by their chalet, while we...

Somabula Nature Reserve is an absolute gem! The place has it all within easy proximity of Gauteng's centres. The owners and staff at the reserve are superb. The facilities are spotless and everything is very well maintained. I was very interested to learn more about the heritage of the building and the farm. But... the chances are you'll never get...

I just love Somabula! I first went 3 years ago for a game drive, and knew it would become a regular holiday spot! You choose.......Bush Camp with no electricity but spacious campsites and clean ablutions, or chalets, or even a wagon laager. We choose bush camping every time. There are only 3 campsites, well set apart, and 1 other campsite...

“Choose the bottom campsite for some extra privacy. The other campsite is a double one, and is better for large groups. If you want complete privacy, book the campsite with its own private ablutions.”
