Great hotel in ideal location to explore Galtur's peaks and Dams. Great choices of food, which are to a high standard. Peter Lorenz knowledge for hikes at all levels second to none. Great second visit to Galtur and the Alpenhotel Tirol. Thanks

We spent another week at Alpenhotel Tirol in Galtur the last week of January 2019 for a ski hotel. This was our second stay at this hotel and we were not disappointed, in fact it was even better. The hotel is everything you may expect in a pretty Alpine town, Austrian style throughout, cosy with very friendly staff. Our room looked out of the back of the hotel, it was large, lots of storage and had a bathroom with a bath (welcome to rest aching muscles on a ski trip) and a large balcony. The restaurant was excellent. Breakfast offered a large variety and dinners were 4 course with choices galore and attractive, very tasty, modern European cuisine. The hotel has a wellness area including hot tub, sauna, steam room, tropical showers chill out area - not busy and all included in your room rate. Nice as some hotels ask you to pay extra for a hot tub. We did not use the ski room as we left our skis at the InterSport rental shop which is 2 mins walk from the hotel and 1 mins walk from the bus stop for the ski bus to Ischgl or Wirl (Galtur ski area). This is free of charge. One thing to note you can return your expire ski lift pass to the shop that sold it to you for a €5 return, we found that out before but the operator didn't tell us, wanted to pass this tip on to others :) Snow was fabulous, large ski area in Ischgl, Samnaun and fun to do Galtur for a day during the week. Would definitely recommend this hotel .

Warm, friendly and comfortable family hotel with good food. Delicous afternoon tea to rush back to after a days skiing. Excellent skiing area at Ischgl a short bus ride away with the added attraction of the different themed 'Shapes in White' to hunt for each year. skis and boots can be left at the Sports shop over night so you don't have to carry them up the steep drive to the hotel each evening. No heated pool, but there is a jaccuzi, sauna etc.

Only got the skiing bug when I was 50 and so am keen to explore the whole world of skiing before old age stops me. So why do I keep going back to this Hotel? Great food! Spotless facilities! Attention to detail. great value for money! All overseen by Peter Lorenz and family in a quiet but efficient manner. It's not "ski in and ski out " - if it was you'd be paying twice the price, but the efficient ski bus gives you access to great skiing in the villages of Kappl and See, great skiing in uncrowded pistes. For more "action" go to Ischgl - massive ski area, great lifts, always expanding and you can even ski over to "duty free" Switzerland. Not to mention Ishgl's legendary "Apres Ski". Galtur and Alpen Hotel Tirol is a calm oasis, but don't miss the sandwiches and cakes after skiing. Beer and Wine reasonable prices. If you want a more lively evening Tommy's garage is well worth a visit especially when there's live music. Also worth a visit is the Alpinarium - built as a memorial to the devastating Avalanche in 1999 and also acts as a defence for the village. Try the Austrian bowls at the sports centre just behind the Hotel and if you are brave take part in the traditional skiing races. So good we're going back in summer to explore the mountains on foot with kids in tow and booking skiing next year for a "blokes" ski trip. Forget about the drive up it's only a challenging blue run!!!!
