We visited the hotel for 11 nights in mid July. We arrived after dinner and were provided with a meal of cold cuts and salad as our booking was half board. Our table for breakfast and dinner was allocated to us for use throughout our stay which was a nice touch. Our room was 206 with a balcony view from the front of the hotel across vineyards and up the valley with mountains to both sides. The room itself was plain white walled with a white leather headboard. The bathroom and shower was quite small and the green suite was dated and worn with cracks in the bidet. A number of the floor tiles were cracked or damaged and the general impression from the grouting and shower tiles was that the room needed to be updated. The wardrobe was of good size but again looking a bit worn. There was a free safe provided in the room too. The bed was reasonably comfortable with a memory foam mattress and pillows with optional additional pillows provided. Be aware that the walls in the rooms are quite thin and we could clearly hear the TV in the next room and conversations from rooms two or three doors away. Footsteps and movement in rooms above was quite intrusive. Also being at the front of the hotel meant we had some noise from deliveries and rubbish bins being used. The reception staff were helpful and quite friendly. Free internet access was provided limited to one code per device per person. Continually having to log back in was a pain. Breakfast was buffet style with a choice of continental meats, cheeses, pastries and also a hot buffet with the option of fresh cooked eggs. There was a selection of juices (diluted) and coffee machines to help yourself including espresso, macchiato, hot milk and hot water for tea. Lots of fresh bread and a toaster. Very comprehensive. Prosecco was also available as an included option. At breakfast the dinner menu for the evening was provided with which to make your selection. This was from 3 choices for each of three courses. A pasta dish, a meat/fish course and a dessert. At dinner the first course was buffet style with an excellent selection of salads, cold meats and seafood. There was also a soup option. I am not at all choosy in terms of what I eat so choosing from three options was most often fine. However generally the pasta and the main course included a fish option and a vegetarian option meaning one meat choice. This may challenge some people to find something they like. The menu changed completely everyday we were there and portion sizes were inconsistent but generally very small e.g one slice of meat and 2 or 3 slices of potato only. The food was generally tasty particularly the pasta. Our dinner included house wine which was generally quite acceptable. The hotel also provided other free activities such as a guided walk, a picnic trek and bus down and back from Torbole though we didn’t use these. There was a free welcome drink at the bar and a couple of nights there was free pre-dinner aperitifs and nibbles. Between 4 and 5 there was tea/coffee and cakes/pastries again provided for free. There was a happy hour at the bar too with different drinks at reduced price each day. There was live music two or three nights we were there too. Cocktails were around €5-6.50 and were very good. We didn’t use the indoor pool but it looks very nice. The outdoor pool is situated at the back of the hotel in a secluded garden and has quite a few shady spots under olive trees. The loungers were usually available when we needed them. There is a small pool bar serving drinks and hot snacks though at times it seemed not to be constantly staffed. Particularly for half an hour at lunchtime which seemed a bit silly. Be aware that the village of Nago is about a mile and a half from the lakeside at Torbole. The hill is a 1:10 gradient which is quite challenging. Nago does have a small supermarket and three or four bars and eating places and is very pretty and laid back. If you want more bars and restaurant choices then Torbole or more realistically Riva about 4.5 miles away are better options. In summary this hotel offers reasonable value but the dinner options and rooms do need to be improved if it is to be considered 4 star.

Spent a wonderful relaxing week at the Hotel Continental. Could not fault the friendly staff who went out of their way to offer advice and answer our questions. The food was excellent and well presented. An added bonus was the coffee and cakes at 4pm, which was always well attended. Our corner room was clean and spacious and our balcony looked onto a quiet garden with mountain views. We enjoyed having the best of both worlds by staying in the lovely medieval village of Nago whilst being able to walk for 20mins into Torbole. If you are reasonably fit then the climb back up to Nago is doable, we managed in the 40 deg heat. We would not hesitate to return.

Dear Alan, thank you very much for the positive review. Nago is a very nice and quite village, only 2 kilometers away from Lake Garda. Every day (3 times a day) the hotel offers a free shuttle bus from Nago to Torbole. If you prefer to walk down the street is only 1.5 km and you can enjoy a nice view of the lake, or throw the roman road, 2.5 km long. Every day our chef Massimo with his team offer a various and rich menù starting with a good self service starters buffet. The rest of the courses are always served. Inj the afternoon, the time is a rich buffet with cakes, bisquits, fresh fruits, juice, coffèè, cappuccino, tea and much more. Grazie also for the nice words regarding the staff. See you soon in Nago, Alessio
