After reading in a local paper about the very real possibilities that existed to not just visit but to stay in a castle I started to research some options. After looking at 3 or 4 other places I decided on Castle Liebenstein. It did not disappoint. The customer service I received via email before even making the trip was quick,... More

We stayed at Burg Liebenstein after a week of cycling on the Mosel. Nothing could have been more perfect, relaxing and delicious. We were picked up in town by a friendly driver and driven around and around, up and up to a most beautiful cloud view of the Rhine valley below. The Lord of the castle greeted us with wine... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night on a walking holiday along the Rhine gorge from Bingen to Koblenz. Before we arrived, I imagined a gloomy medieval castle but I couldn't have been more wrong. This place has been renovated with so much care and the age and history of the building have been respected whilst adding all... More

This storybook hotel is amazing. We had a beautiful view of the Rhine River from our quaint room which fit our family of 3. The entire hotel was just fantastic. Great views, wonderful food and friendly staff. The grounds are picturesque and offer terrific views of the town below. The staff picked us up at their other hotel in town... More

This was really a great thing to do - stay in a castle , we only stayed one night due to lack of time , but would suggest 2 nights then spend a little time on the river visiting other little towns in the area! We had a room at the top of the stairs , with a little window... More

My family of 5 had a wonderful time during our one night in the castle during our vacation this month. The outdoor seating of the restaurant had beautiful views of the Rhine River as did our rooms. The food at the restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed our lunch and breakfast there very much. The rooms are super charming, just... More

We did not stay here (were older and have trouble with stairs and lower floor accomodations were booked), so ignore comments about the "hotel", but we dined there one evening and I readily recommend that aspect. We ate in the "formal" dining room (dressed informally) at one of the 2 tables by the windows. Food was quite good, service by... More

High up on a hill overlooking the Rhine River sits the castle of Liebenstein. The road is narrow and winding as you approach this old castle. I stayed here twice. The first time I was in the Kings room at the top. The staircase was very narrow and there were secret passages to explore. The second time I stayed we... More

We did not spend much time in the room but it was cute and decorated like you would imagine a castle to be. I just loved the old, wooden wardrobe. Watch your head while climbing the narrow staircase leading to the rooms. It can be a bit treacherous if you've had one too many ales with dinner! The castle boasts... More

The location is phenomenal! Castle Liebenstein is in the center of the 'Castle Alley' section perched on its hill overlooking a beautiful section of the Rhine. Our room #4 faced both the Rhine & a neighboring Castle making this the most spectacular view. It had a separate bedroom, living room with additional cubby-like daybed & beautiful private collection of artwork.... More
