We stopped for lunch during our day skiing in Tauplitz. The restaurant sat next to the kids ski area so it was an easy choice. It offered 3 types of homemade lemonade (raspberry, ginger, lemon) apart from the other standard alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The menu was more limited but offered Wiener Schnitzel, sausages ("Frankfurter") with fries, soups and some other options. We had Schnitzel, Frankfurter and Germknödel (see photos). The food was good, service very friendly (spoke very good English). I awarded 4 stars (should be about 3.5) as the food was good although the menu options more limited. Some of the raspberries could have been fresher (even though frozen, the supplier of the same was not 100% top quality, ie. I wouldn't have served some of them). Credit cards welcome.

What makes the experience wonderful? It is not only the location - high up in the mountains, remote, peaceful in summer (it may be a bit different in winter with 3 or 4 lifts just in front of the hotel), but mainly the friendly, unpretentious, open, warm and helpful staff. Do not expect luxury, the hotel is oldish, but perfectly clean and very cosy. There is a nice free sauna, wifi, internet, the meals are very good. As regards entertainment, you are basically on your own devices, the hotel is quiet in the evening which we greatly appreciated. We look forward to coming again in winter!

Very nice place with a nice view and very friendly service. The food was very bad though, we should have known by the smell of burnt oil that was omnipresent. Also prices are quite high for what you get. Never again.

We stayed here on our motorcycle-tour from NL to BiH and found the place to be absolutely terrific! It was only a bit fresh for us, since we only packed for a hot summer in July....The location is slightly remote and high in the mountains (Tauplizalm is 10 km up from Tauplitz proper) but once you arrive, the location and the entire experience is very stunning. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the hosts' warmth and exquisiteness... The meals prepared were simple, fresh and sooo delicious and the house-wine was very good. We definitely will try to come back again, so all in all a very recommended place to stay at.

We rarely return to the same hotels, however we just got back from our third annual vacation to this hotel and are already looking forward to the fourth. You arrive on a snowmobile, since the hotel is located near the top of the mountain and is completely surrounded by snow in the winter. We were worried about the isolated situation of the hotel before we came the first time, but the absolutely unique experience and the wonderful staff and owners won us over. Once you are there, in the evenings, due to its location you will only be in the hotel, so if you are looking for wild nightlife and a lively bar scene, this hotel will not be right for you. However, if you value peace and quiet and exquisite high alpine beauty, a perfect location for skiing or snowboarding, if you appreciate warm and unpretentious hospitality, then you might find this hotel offers a unique experience that is not to be missed. It's not "fancy", it's completely down to earth (like its owners), it has rough edges, but for our family it's amazing. We are a family with four kids ranging from 6 to 15 years old; all the kids love the hotel and I think they would shoot me if I don't take them back next year. There is a ski school with the possibility to rent equipment right in front of the hotel; the ski school caters to international students, and our English-speaking kids look forward to the ski school almost as much as the hotel. There are 4 lifts directly accessible from the hotel, which is also located directly on a beginner-accessible ski slope. The staff are super warm and friendly and are another major reason for wanting to come back. There is no fitness area, but there is a very nice sauna. The hotel itself is old structure but has been updated and is a nice combination of old and new. This hotel may not be perfect for everyone, but for us it's the only hotel that we consistently come back to year after year.
