“I believe in providing a service first, and only then, when everything is satisfactory for our customers, to accept payment.” That’s how Mr. Kogler answered our inquiry regarding a down payment when we arrived at the charming, family-run Hotel Kogler for our ski vacation. And boy, did he deliver! Absolutely spotless rooms, extremely friendly staff, and probably the best food in the entire region. While the menu was mostly tailored to an adult palette, the team at Hotel Kogler would always whip up something tasty specially for our daughter. The hotel is close (maybe a 3 min walk) to the ski shuttle bus that took us directly to the lifts. While in the afternoon, many fellow skiers opted for a visit to the slightly crowded Grimming hot springs in town, we enjoyed the tranquility and peace of the hotel’s own indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. All in all, I’d say our experience was “old-school” - in the best sense of the word: personal through and through.…
Very good hotel and friendly and hospitable staff, very good position for bike tours for advance and beginners, too. Hotel has nice swimming pool and sauna, garage for bikes and free parking place even for bus.
We spent a few days in Bad Mitterndorf, arriving on the 22nd. For Xmas Eve we had booked to have dinner at Hotel Kogler. We did not stay at the hotel but organised everything via email. This communication channel worked very well and we agreed to have look around before the eve of the 24th. When we arrived, we were met by Mr. Kogler (son) and he not only showed us around but asked us to choose were we would like to sit. On Christmas Eve we arrived 15min to 7pm and met some of the other folks taking part in what turned out to be a very nice event. Dinner was made up of 4 courses plus a large plate of christmas cookies for those left hungry. We were served a starter (smoked Saibling fish with pieces of river crab in a bed of jelly), a soup (chestnuts and wine), the main course (traditional Tafelspitz from young bull) and a dessert Each of the plates was very tasty and had been prepared with a lot of dedication. After dinner we were treated to a number of Christmas carrols (participation was encouraged as every person received a printed page with the lyrics), some thoughtful as well as humorous poems. All considered, the familiar setting, the Christmas feel in the hotel and the wonderful food and drinks made this a very memorable evening for the four of us. I would like to thank the Kogler family and staff very much for a wonderful evening and suggest you all try to visit them when you are in town. Andreas…
We stayed for two nights, half board (i.e. breakfast and dinner included). We were pleasantly surprised by the room which had a balcony and was moderately sized and quite clean. The windows open widely which I suppose in the summer may be the only form of A/C which is not uncommon in Europe. Food was good. One bonus is that they have a nice pool and sauna.
