Antica Dimora 191 is an excellent option for a stay in Isernia. Located in the heart of the old town, it’s possible to reach all of the main attractions on foot. The hotel itself is a lovely historical building, with traditional and lavish decoration. Luca, the manager, is very nice and friendly. Breakfast is served in a caffè downstairs. Definitely recommended!

So my wife and I visited the town of Isernia today. This is where here mom was born and raised. We stayed at this inn on a recommendation from family. The owner Dominico could not be more friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but the proximity to antico centrale is awesome and it more then makes up for that. The places to eat and bars are all close by and all the rooms are clean and well kept. This is a definite must try.

I had a wonderful stay at this most unique B&B, located in historic Roman town of Isernia. Location: 5 Stars In the heart of the historic centre - Step outside to cafes, restaurants, churches, mercatos, shops, evening festas, concerts Accomodations: 5 Stars Housed in 3 palazzos dating back to the 700's, formerly summer residence of king Ferdinand of Naples, beautifully appointed, bath with all modern conveniences Host: 10 Stars Domenico was fantastic, unobtrusive, yet readily available for any inquiries and most accommodating. We had arranged airport pick-up, and as our flight was delayed he waited 2 hours for us. Upon our arrival in Isernia he gave us a tour, pointing out to the major points of interest and things we might enjoy during our stay. He has captured the essence of providing his guests a wonderful stay and a memorable experience at his B&B. Continental breakfast was served in a wonderful café in piazza overlooking the cathedral from the 1300's, such a treat, fab coffee and fresh pastries, Wi-Fi, and always service with a smile. Maid service, complimentary mineral water in the mini fridge, fresh towels, everyday. Incredible value for the money. AC, free Wi-Fi Lodged here for 2 months, it was wonderful, it merits higher than 5 stars as it is well deserved. I Highly recommend this special B&B Mille grazie Domenico you're a stupendous host. Arrivederci.

To get out of Rome for the weekend, I took the two-hour trip to Isernia. The BB was a good choice. (Hint, the reception desk is a couple doors down, at number 177.) The room was large and clean, as was the bathroom. Street noise is minimized with double pane windows to the street. (When I stayed, the bar below was not open on Friday or Saturday night and street noise was not an issue.) The walls are thin, however, and if you have neighbors, you will hear them, and they will hear you. Breakfast, as noted, is at a local bar with good cappuccino and cornetto. (It was unclear what could be asked for at breakfast, so I played it safe and had a "bar breakfast," rather than what you would find in a hotel. Housekeeping comes each day to make the bed and straighten. If reception is not staffed, you can call the number on the door and it will forward to the owner's cell phone. The location is good, with restaurants, bars, and pubs all within minutes, as is the town's cathedral and Saturday market.

Isernia gets a bad press for some reason: we found it attractive, friendly, and the little alimentari/deli off the main square is superb for local cheese (Molise being a mozzarella-producing region). Antica Dimora 191, in a beautiful palazzo facing Piazza XX Settembre, gets a lot right: the dark 'Baroque' decor is atmospheric, and the suite was comfortable and very clean. However, on the Friday night we rented it, there were drinkers shouting until 3am right below us. Isernia is socially almost inert by day and this area seemed hardly on a par with Rome's Campo de' Fiori, for instance; so we were caught by surprise and had barely noticed that there was a bar right below us. If, after a day of driving, you need some sleep, I strongly recommend asking for a quiet room at the back.
