We stayed at the Royal Hotel for 5 days, using it as a base for discovering Anglo Boer War sites in the area. The hotel is of historic importance. We changed rooms from a small modern double at the back of the hotel to a large older room at the front with balcony. More road noise at the front but...

The hotel is situated in the cbd but its quite nice and cozy the staff at the hotel are friendly and go all out for their guests to be comfortable and happy. Although its an old hotel the hospitality makes u feel as if u are in a mordern hotel

We stayed for one night on a school tour with 2 adults and 12 children. The service was excellent, food great and the rooms very clean. We particularly enjoyed the suitably dated feel of the hotel and the photos and various other historical details. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.

Pros: Friendly attentive staff. Rooms are clean. Breakfast was ok. Cons: Creepy old Hotel with smelly carpets. Food terrible. Landed up eating ice cream and having a beer. Better to go to Wimpy or the Spur for dinner.

I stayed at this 3 star hotel in Ladysmith. It is basic accomodation but well situated in town I was pleasantly suprised it was clean that's the biggest factor for me. I always check the linen and check the beds. Food is typical of hotel food. It was fair tasting food Service was excellent from staff.

We just returned from a Battle Fields trip in the Ladysmith area. The hotel's history and location strongly suggested that we stay there. After researching a bit most people were happy but all noted the noisy environment. We decided to take the chance :) The booking was faultless and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a side room...

Stayed a couple of nights - room large and comfy . Refurbished shower excellent ....but we faced the road and could not sleep due to noise all night. Food was ok, but no filter coffee for breakfast!!! Staff very helpful and friendly.
