We stayed 2 nights at The Inn while touring Orkney mainland. The location is great for discovering the many attractions on the island. Our room was well-appointed, spotlessly clean and modern, and had all the amenities you would expect and more. The bed was very comfy. Overall the attention to detail in the room was thoughtful and really appreciated. The guest lounge/dining was large with views over the water. Breakfast was freshly cooked with lots of choices. There was a fridge with fresh fruit, yoghurts and juices, as well as cheese and biscuits for late night nibbles. Shona was a great host and could not have been more helpful. She recommended and booked The Sands hotel for us for dinner, which is close by and did not disappoint. We would definitely return again. A big thanks to Shona for making us feel so welcome!…
We stayed here for 6 nights and it was a real home from home. The bed was so comfortable and the hosts were so kind and considerate . The breakfast was wonderful . So much to chose from. Ruby my border collie didnt want to leave .( nor did we! ) We were so thankful that Ruby was also made to feel so welcome as indeed we were . We truly had a great stay . Thank you
The Inn Guest House on Orkney is the place to stay. The accommodation is superb, the breakfast is varied and well cooked and Shona is a lovely host. We were so well looked after and made to feel at home... nothing was too much trouble. We would have no reservations is recommending this as the place to stay on Orkney. We will be back!
Arriving in January with three dogs was not something that the proprietor was really geared for. In fact she does not advertise her place as pet friendly, but was generous to us as Winter visitors. Well behaved dogs at home are not always as accommodating in other places. Our visit was not a holiday but an important visit for other reasons. Some how the week passed without too many incidents, and we rather sadly parted company, but as the best of friends at the end\ A delightful place, with excellent food and an outstanding proprietor with whom we became good friends.
Beautifully situated overlooking Scarpa Flow and the first of the Churchill Barriers. The rooms are a good size, very comfortable with nice extras like toiletries, biscuits and little jars of sweets as well as the normal tea and coffees. As a non tea and coffee drinker, I was particularly please to find sachets of hot chocolate provided. Breakfast was excellent and easily kept us going until dinner time! Shona is a fantastic hostess and really made us feel special during our stay. This was our first visit to the Orkneys and to the Inn Guest House, but it definitely will not be our last to either.
