Good location. Nice staff on reception. Bed had dirty linen still on from previous occupant. Unable to eat in restaurant as was told cookers all broken, asked to book breakfast but informed that as I hadn't booked it online it wasn't possible! Bedroom door was hanging off frame. Games room in basement and pretty grim.

Over night stay here with 10 other. Staff were very helpful, friendly and having arrived late in the day, booked a table for us in a local restaurant who could accommodate us. The place was an old boarding school which meant plenty of rooms. This was the first YHA we had to both make up and strip our beds in .... More

The setting is fantastic and the views from the garden are great. The house itself needs updating, or even painted, failing that, a good clean. The shower in our room was broken and not recently. The duvets and pillows were past their best - pillow protectors would have helped.. it is good value but it needs remedial action.

I have just stayed at this hostel as part of a reunion group who get together in hostels twice a year. Martin, the owner, has taken on a big project in this beautiful and well positioned hostel, and yes, there is still work to be done. However, there are loads of plusses, lots of little extras (+ WiFi), and what... More

We stayed in this independent hostel (which is linked to the YHA) for one night. We were slightly concerned to see a coach load of children pull up at the same time as us but were pleasantly surprised to find that that we couldn't hear any noise from our double room (with a double bed) in the attic! It was,... More

We have just returned from another wonderful night at Arnside YHA. Breaking our 82 mile cycle ride from Walney to Glasson Dock we were kept going by the thought of a warm welcome, clean and comfortable beds, a bar, beautiful views over the bay whilst lounging on the luxurious garden furniture and great food. We were not dissapointed. Martin,a charming... More

We had a dismal experience at the Arnside Independent Youth Hostel, in complete contrast to the many warm welcomes we have received over the years at the YHA Hostels. The hostel manager did not like the make up of our group, which included 3 adults and 7 children. He made a point of saying he had 'never had a group... More

Stopped off unexpectedly when our journey home was interrupted by the M6 being closed. Checked into a room for two with space for our month old's cot but they upgraded us to a ground floor en suite that slept six. Obviously we didn't need all those beds but the extra space was appreciated and it was conveniently located where we... More

For a 1st experience of a youth hostel I was quite impressed. Curious building, small twin room with All amenities available. Excellent location, not realising it was AONB until we arrived, bonus. Staff were very helpful and obliging. plenty of local info leaflets. Look forward to visiting again and bring the children. Only downfall... Parking was not generous on space... More

We have just returned from Arnside Youth Hostel after a 2 night stay. We received a very warm welcome, the room was warm and clean, the showers were hot, and the self catering kitchen was very well equipped. Leighton Moss is just around the corner, and the Lakeland Fells are a short drive up the road. What more do you... More
