The room could have been much nicer if it had been cleaned properly, used tissues in the robe pocket is quite unpleasant..There was a view over the estuary which was very nice.Unfortunately the The shower, over the bath, was barely a trickle, the cleanliness was not great, dusty and grimy.Toilet handle and bath tap were loose.Just lots of small things, the stair carpets needed deep cleaning,the... We stayed at this hotel for one night, whilst touring around the lakes area. They have a car park at the rear of the hotel. If this is full parking is available on the roadway outside the hotel. We booked in and went to our room, The Leighton Moss room, and found it to be a little on the small... More

Booked direct with the owner. Grisedale room small but OK with clean bathroom & good shower. The breakfast is very good. Bar area very tired looking & drinks pricy & not always the same price depending on who serves you, but lovely looking restaurant rooms, very underused & sterile, because cut off for orders is 7.45pm. Had difficulty even at 7.35... More

We have just returned from a two night stay, staying here while spending the day at Cartmel races. We were in a room overlooking the estuary with a lovely seating area to watch the world go by. The room was clean and very comfortable however when I book a double room I don't expect the bed to be two singles... More

We booked to stay here for a family wedding in nearby Lancaster. The weather was not kind but it is a tribute to The Fighting Cocks that we still really enjoyed our stay. We arrived much later than scheduled, very frazzled, family of 5 with 3 teenagers. The bar staff helped us with booking cabs for travel to and from... More

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was reasonable though am not convinced it is fresh local produce. We had a lovely view from our bedroom which was a good size though the shower a bit on the small size. Plenty of tea and coffee provided. Beware the rules in the rooms regarding food and drink.

In new rooms, they not bad but very bad drain smell in disabled room. Location very good. Main building and surrounding car park a bit grubby. Breakfast room very cafe like definitely Not four star. Cooked your own toast, serve yourself tea. All very basic much like a canteen.
