What a nice place! A four room guesthouse in a charming old English Colonial style. Two friendly cats and a very friendly manager: Ansu. It ‘s not easy to interrupt here, but it’s much more fun to let her tell… 😊 Friendly staff makes very tasteful 3 course breakfasts. A stunning view because it is practically on the beach.

A lovely experience, we would love to return to the warmth we experienced there from lovely people. We felt at home from the first tmoment. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner/manager who treated us like friends and helped with everything we needed. The room was lovely, clean and fresh. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyed overlooking the sea in an attractive breakfast room where we could talk to other guests, exchange experiences and get advice. Really a wonderful place to be.

Our 5th visit. Always so divine. The most amazing spot. Hours and hours of the waves right in front of you. Beautifully presented breakfasts. You wont need lunch. Total peace and tranquility. Quaint and homely, but at the same time with all the mod cons. Loved every minute.

This was the first night of a road-trip up the West Coast to see the flowers and we were all so excited. We booked all four rooms and were looking forward to the start of our trip. However, very poor customer service. No response to emails, no response on telephone calls for three weeks, prior to arriving. We were told drinks would be in the room fridges - well there were none. It was a very cold day when we arrived and no welcoming fire or host / hostess. When we came back from dinner and it was bitterly cold, again no fire on in the lounge. The fireplace is there in the lounge - but not used ?? And no staff around to help us. We may as well have booked an airbnb and self-catered. The highlight of the stay was going to dinner at the Noisy Oyster (no relation to the guesthouse), it made the trip to Paternoster worthwhile. Such a pity about the Guest Lodge - won't return. …

We had a truly wonderfully tranquil and restful stay. Lovely lady called Ansa very helpful with ideas for dinner and sightseeing. Breakfast is great. View and location are perfect. Will recommend the establishment for couples stay.

Lovely place right on the beach. The staff is very helpful and hospitable. I would definitely stay here again. Very clean, comfortable and cozy. Plenty of fluffy towels. Breakfast was hot, fresh and delicious. Blessedly unique. Easy to feel at home here. Note: parking is tight. There is load sharing in Paternoster. Views of the beach are amazing.

Perfect location overlooking the beach and the ocean. Stunning unobstructed views from the comfortable room and terrace with sunbeds outside the room. Easy walk with direct access to the beach. Breakfast with a view was delicious and creative, a generous 3 course meal. Ansu and her team were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful two night stay there and would highly recommend.

The Oystercatcher's is probably the place with the most breathtaking views in Paternoster. I was very happy that I managed to actually get a room there, it seems to be booked out most of the time... My room was beautiful, the ocean views from both my room and the terrace were beautiful. Great sunset views from the property - take that in mind when making dinner reservations. you might want to go for dinner only after sunset, so that you can enjoy it from the terrace. - parking is available, but the parking spaces are extremely narrow. However, Paternoster is quite walkable. - The only reason why I did not give 5 stars was the organisation of the breakfast: the property has a nice indoor breakfast veranda, of course with stunning seaviews. Unfortunately, breakfast is served very early, and in a very limited time frame (8:30-9:30). This means that all guests eat more or less at the same time. The property has 4 rooms, but there are only 3 tables in the veranda. I was really very shocked when I was told to eat in the entrance hall of the property, alone, at a large table facing a wall. I mean - there is some serious misunderstanding of "hospitality" here... I have never ever felt mistreated in such a way. Luckily, we could find a solution - I could eat on my terrace. but still, you feel entirely excluded. on top of that, when all people eat at the same time, the service is rather slow, as the kitchen personnel has to treat all orders at the same time. An easy way to solve these issues and to avoid such situations would be to offer breakfast hours from 8-10, and let guests choose a time slot. This way, everyone can enjoy the veranda, no one feels excluded, and the service would be quick. - but ok, besides this breakfast issue, the place is great! …
