I can write about this place that it has a great infinity pool, that the view is fantastic and that the property is beautiful - all of this is true. However there is something else that sets this place apart from other hotels, and that is the eye for details of the complete staff. You only have to mention any food restriction once, and they will remember it for the remainder of your stay, they remember whether you like your water without bubbles, or ‘frizzante’, how you like your coffee in the morning etc., etc... all of this makes it very personal! And besides all of this we also had lots of fun with the staff! We already miss the fruit salad ;-) Thanks Stefano, Paola and the rest!

I spent a wonderful week in this magnificent hotel the fifth time. It is not only the great room with the breathtaking view or the fantastic pool or the delicious meals but it is Stefano and Paola’ s hospitality, organizational skills and kindness which make us book our next stay as soon as we arrive at the magical place. It is like going home. No stress, everything is organized for us. Can’t wait to be their next time.

Beautiful, remote, and charming spot in a less-traveled part of Umbria. The hosts are seriously committed to their craft and the house dog is gorgeous and friendly. It’s a super-welcoming and comfortable environment with no pretense or over-formality. Views from the pool area are picture-perfect and constant availability of refreshments (waters, juices, light snacks) is a major plus. Rooms are updated-Medieval. A bit rustic/not super luxe, but comfortable. The bathrooms in our rooms were above expectations—large and airy, very well updated by the owners. Breakfast was solid, with typical offerings — pastries, fruits, made to order eggs. A highlight was the pre-dinner wine and hors doeuvres hour. Such a nice way to meet other guests (most of which were English). Dinner itself continues the great hospitality with one small fault—the food was sort of ok, somewhat comparable to my level of Italian cooking. I’m a good cook so this was a solid meal, but more in the range of if you went to a friend’s place for dinner and had a solid meal as opposed to going to a friend’s house for dinner and leaving convinced they cld open a wildly successful restaurant. Pricing for room and (particularly) meals and wine was reasonable ; value was fair overall. Such nice people and such a lovely spot. I’d likely stay again if I were in this part of Umbria, but I might plan to eat out every other night or something if I were staying more than a couple days. I hate to criticize, but the 4 vs 5 rating reflects how amazing the potential is at this place. The food in the Umbria region overall is heralded (though , frankly, we didn’t really find any of it on this trip....). it’s a pretty special place and worth a visit if you’re traveling in this part of the country.

Dear Jennie and Martin, Thank you a lot for taking the time for writing a so detailed and beautiful review . It was a pleasure to welcome you and your daughters and help you to discover a small part of the beauties of our region. We are happy you had a good experience at our hotel , as reflected by your comments . we just need to clarify some point , to avoid misunderstandings with the TripAdvisor members reading your review. The hotel is located in a building dated 1763 and the rooms and common parts are furnished with classical antiques of the 18th and 19th century; the definition “updated-Medieval” doesn’t describe correctly the ambience and the atmosphere of the place. We are sorry you weren’t totally satisfied by our dinners and in general ,by the food of our region that , as you mention ,has usually a very good reputation. The judgment on the food is of course personal and we fully respect yours ;we suppose that your expectations were for a more sophisticated food , which is not typical of Umbria. At our hotel, as clearly described on our website, the objective is to put in value the characteristics of the fresh, seasonal and selected ingredients shopped daily and not to transform them through complicated cooking processes. For this reason, as you correctly tell , the dishes are relatively easy to replicate for somebody having good level of cooking skills .By the way Paola is pleased to share with our guests her recipes and they are happy to cook at home some dish reminding them their Umbrian holiday! Thank you in any case for choosing our place and for your beautiful review. Warm regards Paola and Stefano

I rarely write reviews of hotels but having stayed at La Palazzetta del Vescovo I had to write one. There is no one thing about the hotel, the food or the staff that I would change. We will definitely be returning for another taste of heaven. The only question is “when?”. Thank you Paola, Stefano et al.
