Despite been a beautiful old building and nicely located, with close proximity to the city centre, I feel this hotel for its price and 5* standing is massively let down by the outdated rooms and very poor food and beverage offerings... Rooms are of good size, but are very outdated and in dire need of an uplift... My bathroom had slight mould on ceiling, and had quite a bit it dust along the furnishings and I never even got my room refreshed from the previous nights stay-which makes me wonder are the rooms even properly cleaned...

We booked our stay with family members to be near other family in the local area for Christmas... Be aware when selecting room type that ‘deluxe’ rooms and ‘family’ rooms seem to be adjacent to one another... We changed to a Garden room with a lovely view but it was actually not as good as the ‘deluxe’...

As usual, everything in the St. Helen’s was fantastic. Very warm, friendly staff who go out of their way to see to your every need... The balcony suite is perfect and the bed is so comfortable... I recently stayed at the St. Helens Hotel and it was like I never left... The staff were amazing as always, especially Daniel who when I visited last was working in the bar and has now informed me he was moved department... It was really nice to see him sparing some time to come chat to me and he even remembered my operation, which was really nice and made me feel special... I wish all the staff a wonderful new year and see you shortly...

My husband 2 daughters & I stayed for 2 nights ... The breakfast was of high standard with all normal things, fry, cold meats , fruit bread's, pastries etc... The only other food we ate there was a pizza from room service, it was lovely.... There was complimentary bottled water in the room ... There are lots of comfy seats/ couches to sit & have a drink/ coffee Parking is free .it's on a good bus route to town so makes it very accessible ...
