We had a very peaceful (last minute) stay at the property for our 10 year anniversary. A friend basically set up the whole thing for us. We stayed in the Xenia cabana which is probably the best spot on the property. We were able to bring our newly rescued pup with us (and left the others at home). This took a lot of stress off of us having it be pet friendly. Accommodations were comfortable, the mattress was lovely. We absolutely adore private plunge pools so, this sold the whole stay for us. We are full time residents of the country, but this little staycation was really lovely. Not too far from home either. We were able to sample the massage - OMG - the best deep tissue in the country, hands down. Yes, the property has been in a state of neglect for a while, but they are working hard at making a lot of repairs which we saw. We think for the price we paid (which was not website price), there was value. The team did their best to offer vegan options as we are both vegan, which we weren't that happy with to be honest. That being said, it's really hard to get it right...so we hope they keep working at it because having really great healthy, plant-based options should be top priority at a health resort. The do have a separate vegan/vegetarian menu - so ask for it. It's new, and super exciting to see. We would 110% return. This time we would make use of the really cool separated kitchen to cook some of our own meals. We have to mention that the staff created an absolutely breathtaking, romantic dinner for 2 on the beach (that neither one of us has ever done) including a beach bonfire and a bottle of champagne. So thoughtful, we really did appreciate it. Thank you for a too short, but just right trip. We will be back.…
Don't hesitate and book here. It was the best family vacay we had in the past years. The beach was all for ourselves, all is ecological, the staff was polite and the restaurant is at the beach. The food is really tasty, with all the tropical flavors, great Nicaraguan cusine.
We had an excellent time, and the place was wonderful. The weather really helped, as we had sunny skies for 3 days straight. The staff were so helpful, and friendly too. The food & drinks were really good, and at a very reasonable price. We WILL return again soon!
Must go!! This place is amazing. The accommodations are 10 ⭐️. The people were so wonderful from the check in the spa fun times on the beach and the coconuts bar food and drinks were great. I cannot say enough about this place. Aqua is a must see and the monkeys and yoga were also pretty cool. We will definitely go back!! The sunsets are breathtaking. 💯
This is a fabulous spot with amazing staff and lovely facilities. Clearer menu and better range of food would be the only improvement Relaxing clean beach, beautiful view, friendly Can't wait to go back!
I surprised my boyfriend with a 6 day visit to Aqua Resort and we absolutely loved every second of it! We're pretty frequent travelers and Aqua is definitely a gem. Staying here is such a special experience - the treehouse villas and views throughout the property are stunning. If you love nature and wildlife, this is the place for you. Nicaragua is a breathtakingly beautiful country and we often had the pristine beach to ourselves! Every single person we encountered during our stay was so kind and I can't stress how amazing the staff is. They all went above and beyond to welcome us and make our stay extra memorable. Our first evening began with Jamie at their restaurant for dinner, who not only gave us impeccable service throughout our entire stay but also became a friend that I'll remember forever. Aqua's manager Martin instantly greeted us with his amazing energy and hospitality, thank you for taking such great care of us and going the extra mile to make Jade's birthday special! Shoutout to Dina, Crystal. Caero, Jonathan, and Romel who were so kind and attentive (thank you for practicing our Spanish with us!) We explored a bit between Redonda Bay and Gigante, including an awesome hike up Pie del Gigante, monkey scouting, and releasing baby turtles (thank you Haban and Will!) We 100% recommend taking advantage of the activities Aqua offers! Thank you Aqua for the perfect birthday escape! We felt so relaxed and at home. Book your next stay here, I promise you won't regret it :)…
Great resort for American families. Staff is super helpful, speaks English and unlike other resorts we have visited smiles and truly cares about the guests. The villas are well appointed and beach is spectacular with kayaks, comfortable lounge furniture and the beach bar with nightly bonfire and live entertainment. We will definitely be back.
Aqua is fantastic. The setting is mind-blowing. It sits within a large tract of coastal tropical dry forest teeming with wildlife such as howler monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, hummingbirds, butterflies, raptors and all sort of other birds and animals. Word of warning though, if you are an wildlife enthusiast like me, DO NOT BRING BINOCULARS TO NICARAGUA. Customs will confiscate them on arrival and it is extremely difficult to get them back. The villas and cabins at Aqua sit on pillars within this forest so you feel immersed in nature, secluded (from the outside world and other guests) and there is a very tranquil atmosphere. The exception to this was the Friday and Saturday nights we were there, when there were a couple of weddings with loud, amplified music, though not so loud that we couldn't sleep. The beach at the bottom of the resort is just as beautiful as it appears in pictures, is clean, peaceful and great for swimming etc. There's plenty of wildlife to see from the beach too, including pelicans, vultures, frigate birds, hermit crabs and of course turtles (depending on hatching dates). There was a turtle hatch out while we were there. This was so special and memorable. I was really impressed with how the general manager and security team sprung into action to collect the baby turtles so that they didn't get lost on the rocks and could be released further down the beach. I would, however, suggest that if possible they try to find a way to minimise light sources on the beach during evenings when turtles are hatching as they are confused and misdirected by the lights. The cabins and grounds are well-kept so everything is neat, tidy and clean and there is absolutely minimal contact with less desirable creepy-crawlies, which is particularly impressive given the natural setting. There are plenty of activities. Horseriding over to Gigante was good fun, massages in the spa were excellent and very good value and private yoga lessons on the deck were superb. The food at the beach bar was delicious and reasonably priced given the quality and the fact that they have a monopoly on the location. I have been to hotels where you feel they are exploring their 'captive' audience - this was definitely not the case at Aqua. The staff were all extremely polite, friendly and helpful (as with pretty much everyone we came across in Nicaragua). Communication from the front desk was a little sporadic - sometimes very responsive and proactive, sometimes requiring follow up from us. This didn't compromise our enjoyment of our stay though, and all the desk staff were very nice like everyone else. The final thing to say us that Aqua is absolutely incredible value. As far as a can tell the offer is comparable to other places in Nicaragua and Costa Rica that charge twice or three times the nightly rate, or the same as places where the experience couldn't possibly match that at Aqua. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!…
Myself and 7 friends went down for a 4 night stay at Aqua and had a fantastic time - the staff could not have been more friendly, including the GM Martin. Aqua does a great job with nightly activities on the weekend, including live music on Saturday's and a fire pit with marshmallow roasting a few days of the week. The accommodations were great - both of ours (Kinkajou and Yucca) had private pools and multiple bedrooms. The AC worked fantastic as well in the bedrooms which was a big plus. Aqua offers on-site activities which included a hike to the top of a nearby mountain that the group very much enjoyed. Additionally they set up a number of other activities including deep sea fishing, spa treatments (everyone in the group raved about them), and a private beach dinner. I would recommend Aqua to anyone traveling to the area and look forward to making it back, hopefully sometime soon!…
The only thing it is that the people staying next to us was in our pool at noon and it was suppose to be private and because privacy and all the COVID-19 situation and we were with our baby we didn’t like that, I think that u should consider like a fence for the rooms with pool to avoid that besides that all perfect
