Lovely hotel, big pool, nice restaurant - with good variety and really lovely staff in particular: Sandra, Oldila and Duarte thanks for looking after us both. The only real negative was the entertainment or lack of it, we had 2 shows whilst there by the same singer who sang lots of the same songs on both nights. We were only there for 1 week.

This hotel was very nice, clean, although a little dated in regards to decor it was not dilapidated. Staff (Luisa in particular) could not be more helpful. Our only issue was the food was more 3 star and a little samey but there are lots of places to eat nearby and we ate out 4/7 nights even though we had paid for all inclusive. The nearly restaurants were very cheap. Also the bed was very very hard. My husband has degeneration in his spine and by the end of the week he was struggling. However in terms of price. Not too bad.

We have just arrived home following an 11 day stay at the lovely Hotel Vila Gale which is situated in the pretty village of Santa Cruz. After several other holidays were cancelled, we were delighted on our arrival. The hotel pool is located with a view of the sea front. Whilst the rooms are a bit dated, they are immaculately clean and the maids provide an excellent daily service. The hotel staff are extremely hard-working and pleasant and are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your time at the hotel. The food is of excellent quality, although the buffet doesn't have a huge range of dishes. As a vegetarian the vast proportion of dishes contain and fish or meat but the staff are happy to cook fresh food whenever I requested this. The first 5 days of the holiday were more enjoyable than our final 6 but this wasn't due to anything relating to the hotel or staff. The quality of clientele in our final 6 days took a complete nosedive, with many ignorant, I'll mannered English people arriving. The poor hotel staff were subjected to some appalled by behaviour and language by louts who clearly should've saved their cash for the reopening of Benidorm or Torremolinos, rather than expecting the same type of resort in a small village in Madeira. It left a very bad taste in our mouths that people were unable to enjoy the their escape from murky Britain and the ongoing pandemic. My advice for these people is to read reviews before booking this hotel and then they won't be shocked by the lack of tacky entertainment, rubber steaks at dinner and annoying day time entertainment. I imagine the staff and management of the hotel will be relieved when restrictions are lifted to allow a better quality of clientele return. Persons that show respect to others and this beautiful island. We will definitely return, next time without having to hear techno music being played through others phones whilst attempting to relax by the pool.

Visited in June on all inclusive basis, this hotel was very good. Staff were attentive and able to speak good English (better than my Portugese !). The food was good with some variety and there were a couple of themed evenings. Most drinks available but only one variety of beer on the all inclusive menu as far as we could see. Entertainment was average to good and passed the time away on the evenings there was something on. Not so sure about a couple of them which were basically glorified Karaoke. The traditional Madeiran Dance group were good but could have done with some explanation about the dances, particularly as there was audience participation. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with TV/ Air conditioning but no coffee/tea making facilities. Bathroom was good with shower over bath. Pool area was clean with plenty of sun loungers, it was relatively quiet when we were there and may be a lot more crowded in high season. Spa and indoor pool were excellent. Hotel is close to the airport, we did not realise how close until planes landed and/or took off. However, the number of flights when we were there was limited and they did not disturb you too much. Took advantage of the free mini bus to Funchal, advise to plan and book this early. Worth the trip. Overall we had a really pleasant stay and would return.
