We booked a Bromo and Ijen tour in which this hotel was included. We were really glad that we would be picked up to go away from the place at 01.00 am already. The bathroom was dirty, the bed was dirty and the walls were full of mold. The only thing that looked okay was the swimming pool. But we didn’t go in it because we would have to shower in the bathroom after swimming. I don’t know what we paid for staying there because it was included in the tour, but if you can find something else around the neighbourhood you better pick that one.

I was quite scared reading all the terribles reviews but in the end it really wasn’t that bad. We took an organised tour to Ijen and had little choice for the overnight stay. The beds are ok, the room is not sparkling clean but does the job. I’d recommend earplugs as you might be in the room next to where people are chatting in the patio. We asked for extra sheets and they were given to us. We enjoyed the hot spring in the garden (which was probably the only way to get hot water). Dinner was good I wouldn’t spend a holiday there but for a one night stay on the way to Ijen it’s ok

This hotel is terrible. It’s look great on the picture and when you are standing outside of the hotel and the area is also okay, because it local, but you are fare from restaurants and supermarked. But when you are seeing the rooms. It is so nasty, so dirty inside. Some of the locals agency are using this hotel if you are baying a packet with layover before you are walking to Ijen. It is not possible to sleep because there so lot of noices from people who is sitting outside of the rooms and most of the people/turist who’s staying there are walking to Ijen. The staff are NOT serviceminded. When I saw the first room I was asking to see another room and they show me the room to door after the first room and it was completely the same room and I said to them, but there no different of those rooms and they were laughing at me. The only things the staffs are thinking off is to get money and for them it dosen’t matter what you are thinking and how the rooms are. SO I JUST SAY DONT GO THERE.

Sorry for my english but this honestly is the worst place I have stayed and slept in my whole life. I have been travelling a lot through Asia and I have slept in a lot of hostels, guesthouses, homestays and hotels. My expectations are not high at all as I am travelling on a budget but I suggest not even coming close to this place if anyhow avoidable. First of all they don't clean the rooms and I guess they haven't been cleaning them in a couple of years. The bathroom is so discusting I was afraid to brush my teeth or shower with their water. You only get soap, toilet paper and a towel if you ask for it. I'm pretty sure they don't change the sheets as well although the blanket seemed washed. There is only wifi in the lobby which doesn't work and as it's in the middle of nowhere there is no signal. They know that most tourist have to get up at midnight to take the tour to the blue fires but the mosk prayers last until 9pm and after this they ring their bell every hour - it is so loud you don't get any sleep. In the past I have liked sleeping next to mosks because I like the praying at 4:30 am but this almost seems to be rude. In generell it seems rude to take money for a place like this. I'm really sorry for a bad review and this is only the second I have ever written but I feel kind of upset.

This place is really not as bad as many tourists have described it ! I have the impression that those tourists are those discovering all Indonesia in 2-3 weeks time... and are used to luxury conditions. But we, the independent travellers, have surely slept in other simple and basic accommodations like this, so don't be put off by the 50 % of bad reviews ! Room was small but the double bed had very comfy mattress and very clean bedsheet with one blanket. They don't provide upper bedsheet, but, as I always travel with my own, this was not an issue. In the small bathroom there was probably only cold water but as I spent the whole afternoon in the thermal bath one km away, I didn't take shower. The walls were freshly painted so no sight of mold. All the rooms open to the huge covered common area with tables. I arrived end of Oct. without a booking and paid 200'000 idr. At around 4-5 pm other guests arrived, the majority were couples with a private driver/car : we were 9 tourists alltogether. Dinner at 7 for 65'000 idr : soup, piece of chicken, piece of omelette, rice, piece of fried potato, free tea : it was ok. Wi-fi working well. The * (star) that Lonely Planet attributed is indeed exaggerated but it's probably a way to differenciate it from the Arabica, as these are the only two accommodations close to Ijen. By public transport : angkot from Sempol to Bondowoso at 06:00 (ojek from Catimor / Blawan to Sempol : 50'000). From B/woso to Sempol at 09:30 (25'000). The majority of the tourists left at 1 am and drove the 15 km to Pos Paltuding : if you are an independent traveller, you might ask for a lift. As I stayed the night before in Palm Hotel Bondowoso, I "hitchhiked" a lift at midnight by asking to some few tourists.

We slept there one night before going to Ijen. It was dirty, was not cleaned for weeks I think, and we simply have no words to describe the quality of facilities. We did not even dare to take a shower. We are travelling in Asia for 5 month now, and it is the first review like this I find myself writing.

Worst "hotel" i've ever visited. Rooms look like an old buildng after USSR had been divided. Like it's a base of raiders from Fallout. Like Uve Boll made his own Shining, not Cubrick. Bathroom with bugs and mold. Breakfast - 2 slices of bread and 1 boiled egg. Swimming pool - waste from Chernobyl. Strictly avoid this place.

Stayed 1 night before going to Ijen. Had reservations beforehand as other reviews had not been positive but our driver persuaded us that this was the best place to stay if you want to go to Ijen. Should not have listened to our driver! This really is a bit of a dump! Room was damp, toilet flooded, staff not very helpful etc. The only redeeming feature was the evening meal which was OK and reasonable value.

According to our tour guide, this is the nearest homestay near to Ijen! Take about 30 mins drive! It’s below average but still acceptable! No big issue for 3 of us since we just rest for less than 8 hours and woke up at 12:30 midnight for Ijen hike and blue fire.

More chance of catching ebola then catching me staying here again. This place is the most disgusting place I have ever visited. Without a shadow of a doubt a breeding ground for disease. The showers are rotten, the walls are damp, the floors are crawling with dirt, stains and insects. Refer to the photos to see what creatures we lived amongst for the night, but that's just the rooms - don't get me started on what we received for dinner. The so called 'buffet' was merely enough to feed a 6 year old child, completely the opposite of what you are looking for before hiking Mt Ijen. We shared 3 packets of noodles between 6 adults, 1 plate of rice and a mini potato croquette...We were also charged extra for half a pack of noodles when asking for more. The staff you would think would be apologetic for working in such a dump yet instead they ignore you when asking for help, are rude, and think it acceptable to shout in your face and threaten to call the police when having a discussion about the bill. I was even accused of being to poor to afford my food! Long story short this place is inexcusably dirty and needs to be closed down...that's as politely as I will put it.
