#7 of 15 B&Bs / Inns in Corbridge
The Angel Inn is a beautiful traditional inn offering great local British food with warm and comfortable rooms and an apartment. The Angel Inn has a bar offering local ales, a lounge with a real fire, a private dining room and a barn restaurant. Corbridge is a pretty village, once a market town, that lies four miles east of Hexham on the banks of the River Tyne. Today it has a reputation for excellent shopping with various fashion boutiques lining the main shopping street. Our Bar, The 'hub' of what we do here at the Angel: a great Northumbrian breakfast, an extensive 'all day' menu offering great British food sourced from Northumbrian produce, great local ales, a superb wine list and exceptional service in friendly and safe surroundings. Our Lounge: A great place to relax with friends or a book. Comfortable leather seats, real fire, newspapers, great coffees, afternoon teas, glass of wine, choice of whisky or just a place to warm up after a long walk. Our Restaurant: Our restaurant is both elegant and spacious - sporting a characterful pitched roof with exposed oak beams. A superb venue for dining, which seats up to eighty guests comfortably for private parties, Christmas lunches and dinners or weddings. Our private dining room, the Angel's Table can accomodate up to 14 guests for breakfast, meetings and family gatherings including lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and a great Sunday lunch.

We had been for drinks at the angel before but on the 10th June we came and there menu on the wall looked good so we went with Gins and by hell did he make them good with fruit and presentation was amazing and it was brockmams gin which a lot of places in and around Newcastle area don’t serve so it was a great end to our days off work together as s family. Even the pooch enjoyed it.

We travelled to Corbridge to do some shopping and decided to have a coffee here and eventually lunch. We managed to get a good parking space around the rear of the inn. The staff were very friendly and courteous. When we finished our coffee and after sitting and chatting for a while we decided to have our lunch. We had sandwiches and they were delicious. They were very well presented. We really enjoyed them. We asked the staff if we could leave our car in the car park whilst we did a spot of shopping and they said yes. It’s a great place to eat and a great place to use as a base whilst visiting the historic town of Corbridge.

Staying here for three nights with fishing friends - slightly apprehensive as the girl at the desk was not particularly welcoming and a woman was making herself at home and breast feeding when I walked into the main downstairs room - initially thought it was a Mothercare Conference ! My front bedroom itself was just about ok once I had jammed the windows to stop them rattling at night - sash cord broken so propped one window open for fresh air but why was my double bed two single beds pushed together? Stair carpets were worn, tired and needed replacing. Bottled water provided with tea, coffee etc available on the landing. Other staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were good (Ingoe eggs benedict much appreciated) but the pub food was pub food was pub food - burgers almost overdone and fish and chips was fish and chips and fish and chips in a very crowded and noisy bar - we ate elsewhere after the first night. Excessively loud live music on the Friday night which thankfully stopped about 11.15pm. Good selection of malt whisky, good parking off-road at the rear and very very central and easy to find. Handy Spar Shop next door for newspapers, sandwiches etc. Might return? - would need to think about it.u

Stay overnight and enjoyed fish and chips in the bar. Room was clean comfortable and well-equipped. Only criticism was the lack of drinks making facilities in the room. You had to walk onto the landing for these, which is not practical first thing in the morning

Thanks to all at the Angel Inn. After trekking miles along Hadrians Wall, the Inn provided the comfort we needed for a well earned rest. Dinner was not great, with the only vegetarian option on the menu not being available. However, the manager was very accommodating. Arranging our packed lunches for our 20 mile hike the following day. We would love to return to explore Corbridge a little more.
