A real trip back in time to a tea plantation. Set high in the hills in India's 'Scotland', surrounded by tea and cardamom plantations. Great hospitality and lovely large rooms. Some good walks around and interesting visits to the Tea Museum (actually a historic tea processing plant) and a TATA disabled foundation where they make paper products and beautiful hand-dyed...

The Windermere really was the perfect retreat for my girlfriend and I and a stark contrast to the rest of our travels around India. Waking up each day in the mountains and opening the curtains to look out over the lush green plantations was truly breathtaking. The plantation is absolutely and completely nestled up in the mountains above Munnar and...

This has seen better times too isolated to do anything very difficult to walk around the tea plantation. Very poor facilities (half of which failed to work) toilet shower light failed and was not repaired adequately. However the bedding was very damp stayed for two long nights. However on a positive note food was very good. Also no wine or...

If you want to find a place that gives you a taste of India with possible some of the best views in the world surrounded with tea plantations this is it but don't tell anyone because it is my secret. This place does not have thick pilled carpets and long corridors but has a number of chalets connected to paths...

This is the place where all the more upscale tours stay and we wondered how come. The place is lovely on the outside- an old plantation, with nice grounds, and a lovely cardamom plantation that you get a tour through every day at 3pm-- the best part--- but the rooms are Spartan (and we were upgraded ) and more importantly...

We had such high expectations for this hotel looking at the photographs and the images of the colonial tea plantations. Unfortunately this place was very disappointing, with no heating/ air conditioning and poor ventilation, particular being at a higher altitude. Wifi only available in communal areas, which at best was poor, no TV anywhere and no access to the local...

What a fantastic place in all respects. The service was outstanding and the food the best during our past 3 weeks through India from North to South. What a creativity in the choice, flavors and colors of the Kerala dishes! The building with restaurant (called "The Barn") and library (for quiet reading and free wifi...) have a warm, peaceful atmosphere...

I can't say enough about our stay at Windermere. From the gardeners to the night watchman to the waiters to reception to the general manager and Dr Simon himself, we were looked after by everyone. Our plantation room was large and extremely clean with a balcony overlooking the mesmerising view of the valley. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner were...

We were updated to a cottage which gave us a massive bedroom with steps down to a seating area with lovely views but no outside area. Shower room was also big and well equipped (good pressure shower, powerful hairdryer, good mirrors with proper lighting. Shame the water supply failed on our last morning. We found food excellent - fresh, healthy,...

I stayed in the estate for two nights from 5th to 7th October. I wish I could have stayed a couple of days more, for the relaxing calmness the retreat provided. From the check-in process to the check out everything here is so friendly, that you feel as if you are staying in a friend's house and not in a...
