We stayed for two nights. The hotel is nice and clean. Our room was not the newest but very spacious. The hotel has an own garden with some benched in it where you can overlook the whole city. . The service was excellent and the food tasty. We received tea and cookies upon our arrival. We had a lot of... More

This hotel sits up high and has the largest rooms(previously the mayor's house) it was converted into a hotel by renovations but has lost none of the charm. It has a beautiful rooftop garden and sauna/spa and you can sit outside and view the city in piece and quiet while actually being in the hotel itself!!! A delightful surprise and... More

A hotel of contrasts where the pros outweighed the cons. Our room had no safe or coffee facilities & the bathroom was oddly shaped. However, we enjoyed our stay here immensely. There was a bath & plenty of hot water. The garden rising up the hill behind the hotel was an absolute delight with flowers & shrubs & a further... More

We stayed at the Hotel Orient last week as part of a tour arranged by Exodus. At first sight, the hotel looked pretty ordinary and the rooms nondescript but they were very clean and comfortable. What was a real surprise, however, was the way in which we were treated by the staff and the quality of the food. We ate... More

Lovely little place to stay. It seemed like sections of the hotel had been bolted on over time without much planning creating a delightful maze of rooms, lounges, the restaurant. Staff were very friendly. Would have liked to stay longer.

Stayed here for one night recently. Our room was basic but was okay for a short stay. The hotel is positioned fairly high up a small road therefore our room had a nice view overlooking the town which is walking distance away. There is a good bar & lounge area to relax & a nice outside lawned area to sit... More

We stayed here 2 nights as part of the tour around Sri Lanka. It is quite close to the train station, less than 10 minutes which was ok after the long train ride. It's not that big a city in general but it is pretty busy in the central area (only). The room was large which I find is the... More

A good hotel in the heart of the town. Rooms are basic but clean. Very functional and ideal for a business trip. Needs more power outlets however. The hotel is like a maze and a challenge to navigate! Will stay there again

Hotel was really odd. Huge entertaining area's that were basically empty. Struggled to get a beer at night which just didn't make sense given the beer garden. Rooms all ok , everything worked well and I slept reasonably soundly on second night, Saturday night crowd was noisy all night and only complaint was the walls were thin. Just a hub... More

I completely enjoyed my 2 night stay at this quaint and charming hotel. Our room was spacious and sparsely furnished with a great view over part of the city. The bathroom was reasonably modern and well appointed, with a shower over the bath. And the water was hot, which was a rare treat whilst travelling around this country. It's obviously... More
