The Star Beds at Loisaba are best experienced after a night or two at the new Tented Camp (about 6km away) - as after relaxing in the luxury of the Tented Camp, the Star Beds offer a completely unique and rustic way to experience the African bush. The communal area is stone-walled, open chalet overlooking the aptly-named Kiboko ("Hippo") Dam,... More

What a phenomenal experience. We had heard a lot about the starbeds but nothing can prepare you for the experience. I have never seen such a more rustic and natural - but luxurious lodge - and we have seen many! The room (or platforms) are just divine and the true charm is at night when your bed (on four 4WD... Just amazing......free from the world. I love nature. The view outside is so beautiful with a good site to watch birds. No network.....that's amazing cause it separates you from the normal world. So silent. Animal watching is great......you should do the rides......my partner reminds me of the place daily.

Loisaba is the most wonderful conservancy and we had a superb stay in the Kiboko starbeds. We were utterly blown away by just how vast and beautiful Loisaba was, with 56,000 acres wholly to ourselves. Not a soul. Sleeping under the stars on the starbeds was quite incredible – I tried to stay awake all night, just to soak it... More

Visited here a week ago and was lost for words! To find and such an open, serene and undisturbed area in such a chaotic world is like finding a needle in a haystack. After numerous trips all over Africa and several to Kenya, the Loisaba experience was the best ever, even compared to the ultra-luxury lodges of South Africa and Tanzania. You won't find the wildlife that you would in, say, Kruger, the Serengeti, or the Maasai Mara, but that's not what matters. It's the entire package, from the million-dollar views from the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unique to Loisaba, the Starbeds are a truly memorable African experience. Handcrafted four-poster beds with wheels, are rolled out onto raised wooden platforms so that guests sleep under the endless African night sky. The Starbeds overlook Kiboko waterhole, home to resident hippo and frequented by passing animals. The main area consists of an open lounge and communal dining area (private dining available). Guests are guided and hosted by a team of traditional Samburu and Laikipiak Maasai warriors. The 56,000 acre private Loisaba Conservancy is outstandingly beautiful, with abundant wildlife.
