Spent a week here in mid-August and were very impressed with our stay. The hotel is situated on the main road in Agia Marina and is next to bars, shops and restaurants, and your first impression is that it will be a noisy place to stay. However the moment you enter the front doors you could be staying in the middle of nowhere as it is a very quiet and relaxed location. We had a first floor garden-facing room though where we were positioned meant we could also see a little bit of the sea. The room was spacious and clean, with a good-sized bathroom and a balcony with a table and chairs and a drying rack. There was also a good amount of storage space for our luggage and a large desk area. The hotel has a great pool area with abundant sun loungers and a number of Bali beds. You can't reserve them (good in my opinion) so it is done on a first come, first serve basis, but we had no problem to find places to sit. There is a pool bar that you can swim up to and the drink prices are pretty reasonable. The pool area then opens out on to the beach, where again there are loungers available. The beach is not the prettiest you will have seen, and there are a lot of rocks under foot as you enter the sea (bring sea shoes!) but it is a very relaxing place to spend a day. We had breakfast every day and there was a ride range of hot and cold food available, with both Greek and international dishes on offer, and we impressed with the quality. As the hotel in situated in the centre of Agia Marina there a lot of good restaurants in walking distance, as well as the option to take the bus from near the hotel into Chania for lunch, dinner or sightseeing (takes 30 minutes and costs 1.80 Euro per person). We found all the staff to be very helpful and informative- in particular Konstandinos who was very helpful in giving advice when we wanted to plan a couple of day trips to other parts of the island. All in all very happy with our stay there- it's not the cheapest place to stay but it is very good value and perfect for a week in the sun.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful stay at Thalassa! All the staff are lovely and friendly and can’t do more for you. The hotel itself is kept really well, everything was really clean, rooms, public areas, pool area etc... Our room was beautiful, we had a junior suite on a split level that had a sea/pool view balcony, it was amazing! The pool/beach area is great, you can relax on either. The sand by the hotel is quite stoney and there are lots of rocks when trying to enter the sea but if you walk to the right a bit, it’s more sandy and easier to get in. There were always loungers available either by the pool or on the beach, all are complimentary (even the ones on the beach). The breakfast buffet was lovely, lots of choice, never too busy. We are at the snack bar by the pool a few times which did great food and reasonable prices. We also are in the main restaurant once for the Greek/Cretan buffet which is on. Wednesday night, it was great too! Lots of different meat/fish dishes. The location is good, lots of different restaurants and tavernas to visit for dinner each night, the best ones are up the hills, off the beaten track a bit! There’s a big supermarket opposite the hotel that has a bakery too. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone.
