The room was spacious and comfortable with clean linen. The room was made up spotlessly every day.
The food was excellent, although the bridge restaurant was little like a canteen the staff there were excellent, clearing tables as soon as they were vacated and setting them up for the next customers. It's best to try and work out the quieter times to dine there as it can get quite noisy at busy times. The beach bar and restaurant where breakfast and snacks are served was again excellent. Attentive staff and great food and drinks (only local shorts and beers included in the all inclusive but we found that very acceptable). Again the bar and waiting staff here were great.
There are two pools. One by the beach and one on the other side by the main bridge restaurant. We only used the beach pool because this tended to have a bit more of a cooling breeze. The sun loungers and parasols here are at a bit of a premium. It does say you can't reserve them but that gets ignored so get there early to grab yours. There are more loungers and parasols right on the beach but they are extra.
As far as extras go. They charge 10EU per week for beach towels which you can change every other day and 25EU for a safe key.
We did venture out for dinner a couple of times to break it up a bit, even though the food in the hotel was excellent. If you look a little bit behind the sea front there are a few little gems of restaurants/tavernas serving great Cretan dishes. We found Taverna Roka just 10 mins stroll from the hotel which is a family run Taverna set back from the main tourist area. The staff were excellent as was the food with huge portions and all at very reasonable prices.
All in all a very enjoyable week in the sun at and excellent spot on the lovely island of Crete.

Great room with good beds and relatively new bathrooms.
Nice pool area and very comfortable to be able to go out into the sea straight from the pool area. The only problem was that all the sunbeds were already reserved from early morning, even though there was a sign saying that it was not allowed to reserve sunbeds. This is a rule the hotel could enforce somewhat better.
Breakfast and slightly simpler snack foods were served at Iolida Beach and lunch and dinner at the neighboring hotel Iolida Star. The food was perfectly ok, but buffet food is and will be buffet food and especially the dinner cannot be considered anything more than average at best. It also reduces the fact that you had to use poor-quality cardboard cups for most drinks in the restaurants, as plastic cups were constantly empty and cups and glasses were not put out for meals. When the hotel itself claims it has five stars, it is not enough to serve bad automatic coffee in cardboard cups for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A small smile or two and a slightly friendlier appearance from the staff both at reception and the bar would have made the service at the hotel perceived as something better.
All in all, a good holiday experience at a hotel that has a bit to go on to make the experience absolutely perfect.

The food was enjoyable, with breakfast being a bit repetitive but still offering plenty of options. The hotel is split into two sections: the beachside, where breakfast, snacks, and drinks are served, and the "over the road" side, where lunch and dinner are offered. We particularly loved the Greek dishes and the variety available at lunch and dinner.
Our room on the "over the road" side was spacious and comfortable, with a kitchenette and daily housekeeping. Though the furniture was slightly worn, it didn’t affect our comfort.
The sandy beach and friendly staff were definite highlights. The only downside was some guests wearing wet bathing suits to lunch. A dedicated changing room on the beachside would be a nice addition.
Overall, Iolida Beach Hotel provided a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and we’d happily return.

We was not happy at first but decided to make the most of it. If you are wanting a lay in in the mornings there is no chance of this as we was up at 7:30 every day just to ensure we got a sunbed by the pool! Sunbeds on the beach are 10 euros everyday for 2 with 2 small bottles of water which I find ridiculous!
I see a lot of reviews talking about the British being shoved to the far end of the hotel as opposed to the beach side, this was no the case for us as luckily we had a room on the beach side. Breakfast is on the beach side, lunch and dinner is on the other side which is sometimes quite annoying but the beach side bar offers snacks from lunchtime to around 5pm it is very basic but it does the job. The food at dinner always had a theme and we never found a problem with this we loved it!
The drinks machine was always either flat or not flavour it was very hot or miss but always go for lemonade it was the only one that seemed to taste okay all the time!
We went out for dinner a few times and there are 2 restaurants we definitely reccomend Kri Kri restaurant and refresh beach bar and restaurant there food was amazing and the staff are so lovely! Really good prices too so is a must if you are visiting!
Overall we would stay again but only if the hotel was modernised and had more entertainment.

The hotel has two restaurants on the beach and in the building across the road. Breakfast is served by the beach, and lunch and dinner are served by the road. The food is good, everyone will find something for themselves, the dishes were replenished on a regular basis, despite the large number of guests, the service was efficient and smiling.
The hotel has two swimming pools in each building, plus paid sun loungers on the beach. We mainly used the sun loungers on the beach, the only thing that bothered me were guests smoking on the beach and cigarette residues in the sand.
There are no tiring animations in the hotel, it is calm. There is a stop next to the hotel, from which it takes 15 minutes. you can get to Chania, buy tickets from the conductor, who is on every bus. Bus timetables are available at reception.
Despite the early arrival and late night return, we were able to use the All option from start to finish.
To sum up, the hotel is worth recommending, we are pleased with our stay 😀

The pool area on the Beach section, which was closest to the sea, was very crowded. The pool area at Stardelen was somewhat boring with almost only concrete around. However, it was quiet and pleasant and there were always sunbeds.
Breakfast was eaten in Beach and lunch and dinner in Star. Missing snacks in the Star section though. If you wanted it, you had to go over to the Beach part and pick it up. The food in general was like school canteen food, no big sensation. Very high noise level in the dining room, hard plastic chairs that scraped loudly against the floor when pulled in or out. The drinks that were included in the all inclusive were bland during the day but a little better in the evening at the beach bar. There was no bar in the evening in the Stardelen, which we missed. The location is good with walking distance to restaurants and small shops and easy to take the bus into Chania.

Firstly we arrived late at the hotel and the man working behind reception was really helpful and explained where everything was and gave us lots of information. As we arrived late we missed dinner however the staff had left us fruit, drinks, sandwiches and snacks in our kitchen In our room which was a really nice gesture.
The room service was very good and it was always kept clean and was tidy for us, the cleaning staff was all really nice there was a few bits that we would say needed some refurbishing but I think the hotel are already on top of this.
The food was hit and miss but we are quite fussy eaters, we always found something to eat as there was a lot of Greek options and stuff that we haven’t ever tried or eaten and therefore struggled with it. They did themed nights which we really enjoyed the Asian night was our favourite.
The main bar man on the beach side bar was always really smiley and chatty he made us feel welcome and always remembered our drinks order which is just a small gesture which is nice. They had a wide range of drinks cocktails, beer and spirits.
When checking out at 12 we wasn’t being picked up until 5pm and the reception staff kindly told us a luggage room that had lockers in that you could get a key for to make sure all luggage is 100% safe and then there was showers and facilities for us to use as we had checked out of our room this was a nice touch.
I only have two comments to make about the hotel, firstly accessibility wise I would say pretty poor for prams and then for wheelchairs as well as this being poor in the hotel it is fairly poor in the area too so just watch out for this if you are planning on booking most things are stairs and there is a road to cross.
Secondly there was a large family staying at the hotel which at the start was a little annoying because they was very loud and took up a lot of space in communal areas, however what annoyed us the most was that there was a wedding taking place and they had invited a lot of people to the hotel which was not staying there they didn’t have wristbands and we saw staff serving them and they was very loud, shouting and stood in the way of our room and the lifts.
All around it was a good stay and I would recommend the place it was the best hotel I have been to in a long time
Looked like they didn’t want to be there. Also when you were eating your breakfast some staff couldn’t wait to clear the plates away even when they still had food on and you obviously hadn’t finished. Overall Chania is a lovely place especially the town, we did have a good time once we overlooked the negatives. And We would return back to the resort
