We spent 4 nights at Villa Caletas for our daughter’s wedding. The hotel was lovely. The setting and the views were amazing! Our standard deluxe room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The dinners provided for the wedding were wonderful and beautifully served. The infinity pool was refreshing without being cold. And the menu for snacks and lunch poolside had something for everyone’s taste. Yario took good care of all of us at the pool. All of the staff were caring and professional. We took a couple Uber rides into Jaco which was fun and reasonably priced. The wildlife around the hotel was amazing! Macaws, toucans, monkeys were seen by all of our group. Truly a magical place.

This is an amazing, special place in Costa Rica. Even driving up it's long drive is exciting. We had a family wedding and it was a stunning backdrop for all of the events. The staff was absolutely wonderful...Especially Jairo at the pool. He went above and beyond to ensure our time there was as good as it possibly could be. I would highly recommend this unique, boutique hotel. The views were breathtaking, the food delicious and entire experience excellent.

Stunning hotel - views and decor. Feels like you are transported in time. Lots of wildlife - monkeys, toucans, macaws, and more. Breath taking infinity pool with indescribable views. Sunset was wonderful. Great service and friendly staff. Delicious food. Rooms are in different locations and depending on where you are located you will need to walk up steep (but beautiful) paths to get to pool and restaurant. Spa was lovely and very reasonably priced.

This is one of the prettiest, yet most ridiculous properties I've ever stayed at, especially one marketed as "luxury". You will WORK if you stay here. Because of its mountainous setting, the walking up and down steep ramps and endless, endless stairs is not for the faint of heart, lungs, nor legs. Elderly people who are not super fit will have a hard time. Young children will need to be carried and strollers are impossible. Parking was also very challenging each night when we returned from dinner out, and sometimes when we returned in the afternoon as well. There are, as far as we could tell, only 3 small parking areas, all with slanting spaces and stone walls near behind and on sides Because everyone seems to have rented a giant 4x4 SUV, it was very difficult to get around a car parked in a closer spot, even if a farther one seemed to be free. Other cars, not surprisingly, would "make spots" behind where you parked, so how could you back out? Getting in and especially out of the spots required multi-point turns that were hairy to navigate, esp. again considering other guest vehicles and stone walls. The very, very, very long driveway up to the property is also full of switchbacks and in most places only wide enough for one car, so drive slowly and carefully around those blind curves! Our room had a gorgeous west-facing view from a large balcony, but no comfortable chairs to sit in either on the balcony (only nearly horizontal, non-positional recliners) or in the indoor sitting area. No TV to watch from the couch, only from the bed (we didn't use nor care, but some might). The mattress was firm, very comfortable for us, as were the pillows, but the built-in nightstands were miles from the bed - not reachable. I dragged a small table in from the balcony to use instead. We had 2 issues with food (one pool order never received; our one fancy dinner on property was given wrong item) but in both cases received apologies and offers to fix. The food and orange juice was uniformly delicious. One day upon returning in mid-afternoon we observed 2 different room service orders left out, clearly forgotten, & they were still there the next day! When we needed staff help for a door lock that wouldn't open (turned out it needed new batteries) we mentioned it to staff, who was embarrassed and 2 hours later when we marched back up, they were finally cleared. (one had since been gotten into by some critter(s) - and that's the point. As all rooms are accessed from outside passageways & stairs, not only is china/glassware sitting out a potential tripping hazard, it's buffet time for the myriad insects and larger creatures as well - which we were sure the hotel did not want to encourage). The staff spoke excellent English and were uniformly pleasant. The concierge was especially helpful, as was bellboy? Henry.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in January. The location is beautiful, tucked into the trees of this hilly area. Our Junior Suite Superior large room was clean and quite magnificent, with a small adjoining room that could sleep one, full of Victorian furnishings and decor and with a deep, wide balcony overlooking the trees out to the Pacific. The bathroom was also very spacious but a bit odd, with a small (unsteady) bench to step up to the jacuzzi style tub and shower. Despite the grab bar, this was a bit precarious and could be an issue for someone with mobility concerns. The food in the single dining room was very good, the service relaxed. Despite the splendid room and dining area, we had two issues with this hotel: First, it seemed quite isolated, so you needed your own transportation to go off the property (for example for meals); with only the single dining room and not even any snacks in the small store, options were limited. Second, the property was gorgeous and spacious, but quite hilly even to go from our room to the restaurant, or to the main pool. The staff at Reception were friendly and had told us to call for a golf cart for going anywhere on the property, and perhaps we should have taken more advantage of this. Overall, it was a gorgeous, luxurious property, ideal for a secluded retreat.

So we wanted to get married somewhere tropical and Villa Caletas came up as one of the top destinations in Costa Rica. Wow, no surprise. Everything was magical about our wedding weekend, from the warm reception from Michael the wedding planner and exceptional communication with every little detail thought out, to the absolutely gorgeous location (and fortunately beautiful weather). The hotel staff is outstanding, every single one of them. From the service absolutely everywhere you go, to the mini golf cart rides on demand to take you around the massive private property, to the friendly bartender and accommodating wait staff. Epic. But there's more. This is truly a spectacular place. It's gorgeous. We were there for 5 days and I didn't even see it all, it's that big and beautiful. The food is great, the drinks are always available and quite tasty and everyone is so friendly. For example, there's a private beach they shuttle you down to at the base of the mountain. The driver stopped for monkeys so we could see them playing along the side of the road for nearly 5 minutes as we took pictures and videos of these cuties jumping up in the tree branches. The private beach is a little unswimmable at low tide, but passable in high tide. It's more for walking around and enjoying little cabanas included with the hotel. And it's private so there was basically nobody down there except us (granted we had 60 guests so most of the hotel was just us). Compared to nearby Jaco, this is incredibly upscale, elegant, and very private. Jaco is cute but bustling, full of activity, craziness, and noise, and a little beat up in many areas. Not here at all. A special shout out to Michael our wedding planner who was always there for us, from making all the wedding planning details easy to ensure we could make a few last-minute changes (literally moving chairs and tables moments before guests arrived) and he was there at the party and wedding to oversee it. And it all went without a hitch. As in, we were sure there would be some snags because it's a wedding but literally no drama, no fights, no tears, everyone was happy, and everyone enjoyed a magical weekend in paradise. I highly recommend this place as a wedding venue. My wife and I stayed to enjoy a few days to ourselves before and after, so I also highly recommend this place as a great upscale hotel to chill at and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica. Picture yourself enjoying a complimentary breakfast and cup of coffee overlooking the ocean as the pink-tinged sun rises and illuminates the azure ocean. Red macaw parrots chase each other's tails and swoop through the sky past the infinity pool and then past breakfast. Monkeys play in the trees. We saw this almost every day here. I should also add that there are great services they have as well. The ladies enjoyed spas and skin treatment stuff, plus hair and makeup for the wedding. The photographer Mauricio they partnered with is exceptional.

This hotel has a huge marriage business and should be avoided on week ends. As far as we are concerned (Junior Suite booked on Saturday, January 27 th 2024): - The hotel was noisy and service expeditive - The rooms with nice views ( those of the restaurants i.e. north west) were occupied by people attending the marriage - The best restaurant was privatized. The second restaurant was fully booked at the pleasant time ( i. e. till one hour after sunset) si we ended up with a room service on a dirty balcony ( see photo attached) with a poor view.

Dear Mister Eric, thank you very much for your review. We obviously feel sad after reading your feedback over the hotel. January is high season in Costa Rica and its true that the hotel might experience more "noise" and activity from our guests than during the rainy season. As you mention we offer another option for our restaurant when we have a wedding in the main one. Our Mirador Terrace offers the very same view, service and attention that the Amphitheater. Once again we are in high season and that is why we encourage our guest to place a reservation with our concierge for sunset and dinner. Your room offered a 240 view over the Herradura Bay, The rain Forest, Jaco and the Golfo de Nicoya, we are sorry to see you did not like it. We are going to share your comments over the floor of your terrace with our Cleaning dept and feel sorry it was not as clean as it should have been. We hope you will give us another occasion in the future, maybe in low season when thing a much more quiet. Have a wonderful day. manager@villacaletas.com

The hotel is very unique, a real perl on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, a very special experience. The hotel is located in the middle of the jungle, with access to the beach (shuttle service). The hotel has a wonderful infinity pool and jacuzzi, with food and drink service. You must try one of the spa services. The treatment cabins overlook the ocean from the top of the hill. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The hotel area is home to wild toucans, macaw parrot sharks, white-faced monkeys, iguanas and many other birds. The hotel restaurant is excellent! The restaurant terracce overlook the ocean from the top of the hill. There is a separate menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a plentiful and delicious selection, but special requests are also welcome. Both the hotel and the restaurant are members of the international Chaine des Rotisseurs (Associacion Mundiale de la Gastronomia), the owner and the general manager are both of French origin, so they know what it means to provide a high standard of service, and the staff are always on hand to help. Whether you are just visiting for the day or spending a night, I highly recommend it! A real pampering and relaxation!

We held a small wedding at Villa Caletas on 12/2/23 with family and friends. As you can imagine....the details for a destination wedding are mind-boggling if you're not working with a great team. Michael and his entire staff at Villa Caletas made our wedding beyond "PERFECT"! His attention to detail was 100%. All arrangements from catering, transfers, music, lighting, floral, wedding cake, etc., happened precisely has Michaell assured it would. Our guests raved about the views, food and enchantment that is....Hotel Villa Caletas! Michael and his team don't deserve a 5-Star Rating....they easily earned 10-Stars from us! Highly, Highly recommended! Drew Mitchell/Claudia Vanty
